DESCRIPTION

The Rolling Stones - “Some Girls” Rolling Stones Records COC 39108 (Stereo) from 1978. Hard to find Original First U.S. Pressing Blues / Disco / Pop / Classic Rock album from The Rolling Stones featuring Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts with help from Ian McLaglan, Mel Collins and more. Includes some of their best known Classic songs. In the Original Die-Cut Peephole Cover with the Uncensored Celebrity Inner Sleeve featuring photos of Liza Minnelli, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball and others. After lawsuits, this Inner Sleeve was changed to remove the various Celebrities.
There are many versions of this First Pressing and its Cover. This version of the Cover has the “Pastel” color scheme with the colors from top to bottom being Pink, Green, Yellow and Blue. The “Some Girls” title is in Blue. The Inner Sleeve has Liza Minnelli at the left and “COC 39108” in the upper right corner of the Black and White side of the sleeve. This is a Monarch First Pressing as indicated by the Label Codes which read ST-RS-784079-MO and ST-RS-784080-MO and Vinyl Runout / Matrix markings reading:
Matrix / Runout (Side 1 Stamped ): STERLING Matrix / Runout (Side 2 Stamped ): STERLING Matrix / Runout (Side 1 - Runout): ST RS 784079 DD ∆ 23467 (33 Circled) (PR) TJ Matrix / Runout (Side 2 - Runout): ST RS 784080 HH ∆ 23467-X (22 Circled) (PR) TJ I think that there is also a Stamped Monarch Logo - an MR inside a circle - on both sides but they are super faint.

CONDITION

The Sleeve is in nice shape. There is some slight shelf wear, corner softening/wear, edge creasing and a bit of dirtiness on the light colored cover but still very nice. Super solid with no splits, stains, writing, tears, cutouts, etc. and would rate at least VG and maybe VG+. The Vinyl is in clean Glossy condition. There are some scuffs, marks and hairlines including one visible mark across most of side 2 - no actual scratches i.e. something you can feel with a fingernail. VG visually but plays at least VG+ and mostly pretty much perfectly EX to Near Mint all through with just a couple spots of light groove noise (mostly between songs) and some repeating soft tics at the start of side 2, song 1 - nothing that really detracts from the music and may just need a better cleaning than I can give with my Discwasher brush. The Labels show some light spindle trails but are otherwise Near Mint. The inner sleeve has a slight touch of ring impression and wear on the corners and edges as well as a 1/2” tear in the opening edge but is still VG+.

TERMS AND DEFINITIONS

Records are graded to the best of my ability to Goldmine Visual standards. If I provide Play Grades it is done as a courtesy but I only guarantee the Visual Grade. If you are not familiar with this grading system (or even if you think you are!), please check it out before bidding. I have summarized the important (i.e. I think everyone knows what Mint means) points below in Goldmine's words:
Very Good Plus (VG+): Record surfaces may show some slight signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experience. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are OK.
Very Good (VG): Surface noise will be evident upon playing,... Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as will light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.
I stand by my grades but would like us to be on the same page so no problems arise. I have been selling Vintage Vinyl for over twenty years on the net and I can count the returns I've had on one hand so I believe my grading is fair and accurate. One important note, I try to grade to these Goldmine guides as best as I can understand and apply them. This gives us both a written standard to go by rather than having to guess. But.... it also means that I don't issue refunds over differences of opinion in grading i.e. "That's not MY idea of a VG record!" - I don't know what your standards are and, as such, can't grade to them. I guarantee that items I sell will meet my description, nothing more or less!
