UK ROLLING STONES RECORDS (CUN 39108) VERY FIRST PRESSING (June 1978) OF "Some Girls"
FANTASTIC COPY - LIGHTLY PLAYED AND DELIVERING SUPERB SOUND THROUGHOUT
AND AS A VERY FIRST UK PRESSING THIS COPY HAS THE ORIGINAL CONTROVERSIAL INNER SLEEVE ARTWORK WHICH WAS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAWN (see details below)
PRESSED WITH THE YELLOW ROLLING STONES LABELS WITH LIPS/TONGUE LOGO (the first UK Rolling Stones album released with the new 'CUN' prefix)
MATRIX: CUN 39108 A 3U / CUN 39108 B 3U (all etched, with STERLING stamped)
THE RECORD IS HOUSED IN ORIGINAL DIE-CUT SLEEVE PRINTED BY 'Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd.'
COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL UN-CENSORED INNER;
Lucille Ball, Raquel Welch, Farrah Fawcett, Liza Minnelli (on behalf of her mother Judy Garland) and the estate of Marilyn Monroe all threatened to take legal action over the use of the images printed on the inner sleeve. Several compromises were made including blurring the images but Lucille Ball and Raquel Welch were still not happy and a complete withdrawal of the artwork was the only solution.
But it's not only the artwork which offended; Jesse Jackson called the album "vulgar and obscene" due to its language and 'racial stereotyping' and asked Atlantic boss Ahmet Ertegun to withdraw the record. He responded by reminding Jackson that the Stones built their career on the propagation of black music.
Jagger had certainly taken the confrontational punk ethic to heart (and was even seen wearing a swastika-Jesus destroy T-shirt - from Malcolm MacLaren's Kings Rd. Seditionaries boutique).

Clean, bright and fresh labels with just a few light spindle traces
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT+
Under bright light the surfaces display superficial hairlines/brush marks from the card inner sleeve but these have no audio consequence
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
Immaculate audio performance throughout with no major audible distractions of any kind - just a touch of surface between some of the tracks (not during the music itself - impossibly minor and barely worth a mention) - sounds wonderful
SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
Apart from the smallest touch of storage wear to the corners the sleeve is like-new - crisp, clean and fresh with no damage to the die-cut sections
INNER SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
Printed on thick card with opening thumb notch and rounded corners the inner has both the catalogue number CUN 39108 (I) and G&L printers credit and is again, like-new with no seam splits, just a little record impression
