Rare original UK 1965 1st press EXPORT 12" LP, with gleaming vinyl on the circular grooved red DECCA label, MONO LK 4725

Matrix Numbers : Side 1 XARL-6991-1A with "KT" tax code at 11 o'clock, and stampers "1" and "UC" at 8 o'clock and 2 o'clock respectively ;   

Side 2   XARL-6992-3A with "KT" tax code at 12 o'clock, and stampers "1" and "GH" at 8.30 o'clock and 3 o'clock respectively

This is the first "1A" matrix number I have ever seen of this EXPORT copy, making this a very early production run copy.

Both sides of the flat vinyl gleam with the original jet black lacquered sheen. The vinyl is totally flat and in normal daylight gleams with no obvious marks at all; it is only with close inspection under a bright light that some wispy hairlines and just a couple of very small and extremely light surface scuff marks come into view. Undoubtedly EXCELLENT (EX)!

As the accompanying photos testify, the labels remain in great condition : unmarked except for some very light spindle trails on each label. The iconic sliver writing upon the red background remains perfectly defined, as does the inverted matrix number on each label immediately above the catalogue number - a key identifier of this rare "export" pressing. Note the circular groove on each label - again, indicative of very early UK DECCA pressings. Again, a definite EXCELLENT (EX) is again in order!

The front side only laminated Robert Stace outer sleeve is again in excellent (EX) condition. All of the edges and corners remain firm and well defined with no scuffing at all, as is the spine, and also with no creasing or tears, and all of the colours have retained their rich vibrancy. Corner rubbing is at a minimum. There is no feathering or fraying on the opening edges, no unwanted writing or doodles and all text including spine text, remains perfectly intact. The only blemishes are some sporadic very light 1-2 cm laminate creases adjacent and perpendicular to the edges, two small areas of laminate lifting towards, and at, the the bottom right corner, and just a couple of very light storage marks on the reverse side. Impressive!

I just love it when I place the needle onto the dead wax at the start of a 56 year old record such as this and...silence! The audio quality is brilliant. No background crackle or other interference. No skips, repeats, pops, clicks, or jumps. Just perfect, with great tone and clarity throughout even at higher volume and frequency. This record has obviously been well looked after. EXCELLENT PLUS (EX+) for the wonderful MONO audio quality.

Comes complete with the original poly-lined DECCA inner sleeve with correct "British Patent No", "Foreign patents pending" and Made in England" texts, with no seam splits, no tears, no discolouration, just some mild creasing in the corners and remaining fully functional. Again, a solid excellent (EX)!

A highly collectable copy of this increasingly rare and hard to find UK 1st press Stones gem - a welcome addition to any serious vinyl collection - the superb MONO audio quality being a true highlight.

Note that I always insert the vinyl(s) into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the sleeve itself  to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.

Descriptions of any records I sell comply with the Rare Record Price Guide grading guidelines :

Mint  The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent  The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good  The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good  The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair  The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor  The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing

Bad  The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
