Another from my personal collection! Original 1967 1st UK Mono pressing of Between The Buttons. Again for the best possible audio quality on the planet the earliest stampers make all the difference Look Earliest possible "1" to "1" Mother stampers.  This vinyl sounds superb throughout,   Just try to find another copy like this! There is no nasty loud constant clicks or pops no distortion or any signs of groove wear even in between tracks it is silent very rare to find. unbelievably rare for a 47 year old Rolling Stones record like this!
Please note! This is listed for its collectability and playability rather than for its condition. This is not Near mint but a very respectable copy to own. There is spidering around the labels and this has obviously been played but not overplayed in my opinion. Any interference to mention is some light interference at the outro to the first track on side one "Yesterday's Papers" I heard three or four scuff type pops only, caused by a very tiny 3mm mark that was probably caused from a needle been dropped at this point! That's all! For me the most important aspect of collecting vinyl is the audio quality. I played this three times at very loud volume on a top system, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge prior to this listing. The audio is clear and very vibrant , stunning in my opinion. It is clear and vibrant through out ! No loud constant Clicks or pops heard,and without the usual background crackle noise that is so often heard on these early pressings, absolutely beautiful throughout and generally nice and silent in between tracks! Audio graded at least excellent plus to near as Very, very near Mint throughout in my opinion! This is complete with the original Decca poly lined record sleeve and 1st issue James Upton laminated front only cover also in superb condition!

Between the Buttons is the fifth British and seventh American studio album by The Rolling Stones, released on 20 January 1967 in the UK and 11 February in the US as the follow-up to Aftermath. It was the beginning of the Stones' brief foray into psychedelia.






Sessions for the album began on 3 August 1966 and lasted until the 11th at Los Angeles' RCA Studios during the Rolling Stones' 1966 American Tour. David Hassinger was the engineer for the album. Several songs were worked on; the backing tracks of six songs that would appear on the album were recorded, as were those of "Let's Spend the Night Together" and "Who's Driving Your Plane?", B-side of "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?", released as a single in late September.






The band returned to London and sessions continued at IBC Studios from 31 August until 3 September. "Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow?" was completed to be released on 23 September before the Stones embarked on their seventh British tour which lasted into early October and was their last UK tour until 1971.






The second block of recording sessions for Between the Buttons began on 8 November at the newly opened Olympic Sound Studios in Barnes, London and alternated between there and Pye Studios until 26 November. During this time the bulk of the album was completed including vocal and other overdubs on the previously recorded backing tracks and mixing. "Ruby Tuesday" was also completed.





The photo shoot for the album cover took place in November 1966 on Primrose Hill in North London. The photographer was Gered Mankowitz, who also shot the band photos for the cover of Out of Our Heads. The shoot took place at 5:30 in the morning following an all night recording session at Olympic Studios. Using a home-made camera filter constructed of black card, glass and Vaseline, Mankowitz created the effect of the Stones dissolving into their surroundings. The goal of the shoot was, in Mankowitz's words, "to capture the ethereal, druggy feel of the time; that feeling at the end of the night when dawn was breaking and they'd been up all night making music, stoned." Brian Jones' dishevelled and ghostly appearance on the cover disturbed many of his fans, and critic David Dalton wrote that he looked "like a doomed albino raccoon."







"Brian [Jones] was lurking in his collar," Mankowitz commented years later, "I was frustrated because it felt like we were on the verge of something really special and he was messing it up. But the way Brian appeared to not to care is exactly what the band was about." Outtakes from this photo session were later used for the cover and inner sleeves of the 1972 ABKCO compilation release More Hot Rocks (Big Hits & Fazed Cookies).





The back cover of Between the Buttons is dominated by a six-panel cartoon accompanied by a rhythmic poem drawn by drummer Charlie Watts.





When Watts asked Oldham what the title of the album would be, he told him it was "between the buttons", a term meaning "undecided". Watts gave the phrase to the title of his cartoon which in turn became the title of the album.

This original 47 year old vinyl, on initial inspection of the playing surface looks superb and lays perfectly flat on the turntable. This is free of any warping. In strong there are very few surface marks to mention I notice just one minute mark in particular that is aprox 3mm only that caused three or four light scuff pops to mention fortunately this is right at the end, the outro of a track and doesn't really interfer with the main audio, This is the only thing that I can mention, Importantly there are   no marks that would cause any loud clicks or pops during the audio that I heard! Any other marks that there could possibly be would be light whispy sleeve removal scuff type only and nothing significant that I heard during play back.  (Please note this is the original thick , heavy and chunky slab of vinyl only found like this on the earliest pressings  Unbelievably rare like this!) The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free of any warping! Quite unbelievable to find on a Rolling Stones record after 47 years!

 The Audio Quality

I have played this vinyl four  times prior to listing, at very loud volume on a top system,, importantly using a dedicated mono cartridge! This 47 year old vinyl plays through very very near mint throughout, just the one place to mention at the outro to Yesterday's Papers where I heard three or four light scuff pops, probably caused from a needle been dropped at this point! A superb sounding copy, all hand claps were prominent and a controlled audio feel only heard like this on these earliest matrix variationsand the fact that having the earlist possible "1"to "1" mother stampers makes all the difference! The audio is absolutely beautiful, crystal clear and very vibrant with that deep bassey feel , only found like this on these earliest originals! I heard (no) loud constant clicks or pops and amazingly no real surface or background static during the audio and importantly no distortion or signs that this has been overplayed at all even in between tracks is lovely and quiet! There are Certainly no skips or jumps! Even in between tracks this is lovely, quite unbelievable to find like this after 47 years!  ,, without the usual background surface noise that is so often heard on these early pressings. I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to near mint for the most part!

Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this album and those who know the listings and vinyls that i sell my prime interest is the audio quality! Please allow for the odd isolated static,scuff type pops in one place as mentioned earlier but nothing consistent  through out the audio! This is a genuine (not) reissue vinyl that is 47 years old and would have been played on a system that is 47 years old! Audio like new in my opinion.

Please note, this album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 45 years or more. A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves causes static\ crackle. A constant clean before each play is recommended. This will reduce any static and will enhance the audio quality. Points to note, I notice debrit on the playing surface after play so this will need cleaning before each play which will further enhance this audio quality.

The Labels

This is the original Decca grooved Unboxed  Decca labels!  A truly unique scarce copy in lovely condition,  ''MADE IN GREAT BRITAIN''.! (UK PRESS ONLY)!

There is little if (no) spindle ware (the hole is perfectly round) see photo.  Spidering can be seen around the spindle hole    (this has obviously been played but a minimal amount of times only in my opinion  and certainly not overplayed!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Decca ,poly lined record sleeve (Correct for this pressing) Becoming fragile at the edges light creasing/staining/browning with age only.  Please note, THIS IS THE ORIGINAL! The vinyl is always stored separately from the vinyl for protection. This is how I always store my records.

The Cover

The original   Jame Upton Ltd Birmingham Printed super glossy laminated front only cover! 

There is no edge splits or tares!  Amazingly there is no real main laminate creases to mention just very,very very, minor four or five to count small and light thumbs type in the laminate only to mention and not noticed unless looked for in my opinion the same for very small lines at the spine end are not really noticed unless looked for.    (very very rare to find (any light creases or indents are very minor indeed to mention on the front laminate and no real nasty ring wear any rubbing to the laminate is very slight only to mention.  For the last 40 years this has been stored separate from the record. The rear is exceptionally clean light creases are not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion just light storage wear only.  In general this is way above average and lovely and clean throughout. The pinched end spine is nice all text can be read clearly.       This cover must grade at least better than excellent  in my opinion. Try to find a better cover, impossible like this!
