This 4K/1K stereo pressing is in superb condition and I have never seen or heard better. With the boxed blue Decca label the vinyl is visually stunning and plays with superb sound. The gatefold is also in near pristine condition.

Visual grading
This vinyl is in pristine, immaculate condition the likes of which are rarely seen. There are no hairlines, no scratches and no marks. It is visually stunning and it retains a fantastic glossy sheen and looks 'as new'. There is only a minimal amount of spindle wear and I am sure the record has been hardly played judging by the superb visual and audio quality. It has been so carefully handled down the years and the run out grooves are also spotlessly clean.
Play grading
From the very first note 'Sympathy For The Devil' plays with stunning clarity. The playback is Mint with no distortion and there is no interference on the long fade out either. Immaculate audio in other words! The quiet 'No Expectations' continues this wonderful standard and again there is no 'background' of any kind. Thus far this album has the 'high end' quality of a vinyl pressed only yesterday! 'Dear Doctor' and 'Parachute Woman' both impress with the same incredible clarity again although there is just a hint of distortion on the top end of the latter. Aside from that there are no clicks, pops, static or crackle. As any aficionado of Stones' LPs will know there is always a little distortion on these early stereo pressings and as it is always the final track where it is more prevalent. However, due to the super 'clean' nature of this LP this version of 'Jig-Saw Puzzle' is excellent and it is not particularly intrusive here. It still plays with no other 'background' and the fade out is again immaculate.
'Street Fighting Man' plays with superb power from the outset. The depth of the sound and the strength of the bass is incredible. Without doubt this is one of the most impressive stereo versions I have heard in a long time and yet another Mint fade out. I often mention the quality of fade outs as this is where so often you will find interference. If there isn't any it gives a very good indication of the overall standard of the vinyl. The quiet intro on 'Prodigal Son' is immaculate and the rest of the track plays in exactly the same way. The clarity and warmth of the recording is again of the highest standard. 'Stray Cat Blues' plays with immense power and depth throughout and again no clicks, pops etc. The quiet intro on 'Factory Girl' has no 'background' whatsoever and plays as Mint from start to finish...much like the rest of the album! 'Salt Of The Earth' ends the album with perfect precision with only little distortion on the top end again. Aside from that it could not play with 'cleaner' sound and it provides a superb ending to a classic album.
In summary this beautiful vinyl is a final upgrade archive pressing for certain. With no 'background' of any kind and complete silence between every track the clarity and power of the audio could not be any better. The distortion you can hear every now and then is due to the record being pressed on thinner vinyl than usual at this time but it does not detract from the stunning visual and audio quality of this album. It is rare to find such an early stereo pressing in this condition and together with a superb gatefold this will add to any collection.
The Gatefold
The laminated is 'Robert Stace' gatefold is in stunning condition and the edges and spine look 'as new' with no rubbing at all. It is so clean and difficult to find a negative! There are two mega small ink spots on the back cover and just a touch of very very minor rubbing on a couple of corners but barely worth mentioning really. The inside of the gatefold is immaculate and even the opening edge has barely any handling wear. One of the best examples of this cover you could find and as anyone knows they are notoriously difficult to keep clean!
Inner sleeve
The original Decca poly-lined sleeve is in superb shape and has no splits or creasing. It has hardly ever seen the light of day in my opinion.
The labels
The labels are super clean with only the bare minimum of spindle wear and no marking or writing.
