Rolling Stones – All Meat Music 2-LP TMOQ Super Rare Live Double Album LA Forum 1973
I am selling some items from my personal collection.
You are bidding on a rare 2-LP pressing by TMOQ, aka Trade Mark Of Quality Records, of the Rolling Stones’ performance at the LA Forum in 1973, titled “ALL MEAT MUSIC.” This was the Stones’ only US show in 1973, a benefit for victims of the Nicaraguan Earthquake. The cover is a paper insert with an illustration by TMOQ stalwart William Stout, somewhat in the style of R. Crumb’s iconic cover art for Cheap Thrills. I acquired it in the used bin at a record store in Santa Monica back in 1995, taped it to listen to in the car, and have not played the albums since.
You can hear that the Stones seem to be having fun, breaking out multiple rarely-heard songs they had skipped on the 1972 tour (Great Expectations, It’s All Over Now, Live With Me, Route 66), along with the classics expected from them at the time (Brown Sugar, Bitch, Jumping Jack Flash, Stray Cat Blues, Street Fighting Man, You Can’t Always Get What You Want) and a bunch of songs from the then-current Exile On Main St. (Tumbling Dice, Rip This Joint, Happy, All Down The Line, Sweet Virginia.)
Condition wise, this copy is highly playable but has seen better days. It was obviously listened to a lot by its original owner. The cover insert has a one-inch tear on the left side, running through the woman asking “Brown Sugar?” The right side corners are both torn off, probably having been taped to the cover previously and then separated. There are some brownish stains at all four corners as seen in the photos, glue marks that have bled through the paper. The vinyl is visibly scratched up, and a quick listen to side 1 and side 3 with minimal cleaning reveals a pretty decent quality audience recording with some audible surface noise. It could probably be improved with a deep-cleaning. No skipping was detected on the sections I played but I didn’t listen to all of it. The cover itself has some tape marks on the front, back reveals some wrinkling, edges at vinyl insert are slightly chipped.
Nevertheless, it is a unique historic document of a unique moment in Stones history, a piece of art from Stout at his greatest, and a relatively rare item, the only other one I see on Ebay is selling for $150. It’s a vintage 70s thing, one worth having in the collection. Authentic TMOQ copies are hard to come by today in any condition.
