INCREDIBALY RARE THIS IS THE RAREST PRESS (MONO) RARER THAN STEREO 46 YEARS OLD LIKE THIS!
From my fathers personal collection. He has accumilated more than 50,000 albums over a period of more than 45 years or more. I have his permission and help, to list some of his records using this format that is familier to his own listings.
The audio is absolutely clear and vibrant throughout, amaizingly without any distortion or signs that this has been over played at all in my opinion, there is some light isolated background interfearence during some quieter parts or inbetween some tracks but overall i would grade the audio at excellent. There are no skips or jumps and I found this extreemely enjoyable throughout! This is complete with the original Decca record sleeve and original, earliest Robert Stace laminated front cover. A respectable copy in my opinion! 1st UK pressing very collectable and highly sought after!!
Aftermath is the fourth UK and sixth US studio album by The Rolling Stones and was released in 1966. The album proved to be a major artistic breakthrough for The Rolling Stones in that it was the first full-length release by the band to exclusively feature Mick Jagger/Keith Richards compositions.
The album is also notable for its musical experimentation, with Brian Jones - possibly inspired by George Harrisons use of sitar on The Beatles' Rubber Soul - playing a variety of instruments which feature prominently in each track, including the sitar on "Paint It Black", and the dulcimer on "Lady Jane" and "I Am Waiting".
Once again, two editions of the album were released. The first release of Aftermath appeared in April of 1966 as a fourteen-track long-player, and is considered by many to be the definitive version. Issued between the non-LP single releases of "19th Nervous Breakdown" and "Paint It, Black", Aftermath proved a big smash, spending eight weeks atop the UK charts.
In the US however, fourteen tracks was considered too many. With a substituted cover art, the American edition of Aftermath, released that June, features a subtly re-shuffled running order that eliminates "Out Of Time", "Take It Or Leave It" and "What To Do" (all later released in the US), while replacing "Mother's Little Helper" with current #1 hit "Paint It, Black". Despite compromising producer Andrew Loog Oldham's and The Rolling Stones' intentions for the album, the revamped Aftermath shot to #2 in the US, eventually going platinum. In 2002, the US edition of Aftermath was ranked number 108

The vinyl
On initial visual inspection the playing surface is superb, and still retains its sheen from new! This lays perfectly flat on the turntable! This is the original thicker and deeper grooved type of vinyl only found on original early pressings later pressings were much more flimsier and less robust. In very strong light any marks that could be seen would have been caused by the vinyl being slid in and out of its record sleeve. Very very few inobtrusive light suface scuffs/scratches I can see. Importantly there are no marks that caused any loud contsant clicks or pops.
The Audio Quality.
I have played this vinyl as usual track for track on a top system importantly useing a dedicated mono cartridge. The audio is awesome, cristal clear and vibrant all of the way through, Please note i heard (no) loud constant clicks or pops during the play of this vinyl and certainly (no) skips or jumps! To be highly critical there was very light isolated background surface noise that could be heard in between tracks or quiet places, but very minimal but during the audio it is truly awesome! This is so rare to find like this and in this condition. The audio on this very rare vinyl will be hard to surpass and I rate this audio at least excellent in my opinion.
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! That I have given my honest opinion when describing the audio quality of this vinyl. and have played it through track for track. Please allow for the odd static tick\crackle here and there (not) consistant through out the audio! Remember this is an original (not) a reissue that is 46 years old and would have been played on a system that is 46 years old!! Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!
IMPORTANT NOTE! This vinyl has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt and dust over the years trapped in the grooves causes static ticks and crackle! From my experiance this vinyl would benefit from a constant clean before each play! This would drastically reduce static crackle\ticks and greatly improve the audio quality!!!! I MUST EMPHISISE THAT THE AUDIO IS CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT ALL THE WAY THROUGH WITH NO SIGNS OF DISTORTION OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN OVERPLAYED AT ALL!
The audio is graded at the top!
The Labels,
These are the original ''unboxed'' DECCA labels with the familier groove! In absolutely superbe condition with (no) nasty names written on them. Spidering can be seen angled to the light but in my opinion this vinyl has not been overplayed (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round. The record Sleeve.
This is the original Decca poly lined sleeve with (no) splits or tares just light general browning and light creasings with age. Original!
The cover
Printed by Robert Stace is unbelievably rare to find these originals in this condition. Usually seen with nasty names written on them and in a terrible state. I have tried to take as many photos as i can get away with. This is truly superbe like this!
(No) splits or tares. (see photos) Amaizingly, there are just bare minimal creases to mention, and only in the laminate. The corners are lovely and square. The rear is absolutely exceptionaly clean, any staining or fading you would have to look hard to notice. (no)edgeware scuffing and even more amazing the writing can be clearly seen! Rare and collectable like this, must grade at least excellent.
