IN VERY RARE STEREO, ON THE BLUE 'Unboxed' DECA LOGO LABEL.

RARE, UNIQUE "Stereophonic" DECCA INNER SLEEVE, NEAR MINT CONDITION.
ORIGINAL 1966 STEREO COVER, IN EXCELLENT+++ / NEAR MINT CONDITION.
THE RECORD IS GRADED MINT CONDITION.

The first three Stones LP's had relied heavily on cover versions of R &B standards as the Jagger / Richards songwriting partnership developed. "Aftermath" was the first LP with every track self written. The album was scheduled for a March issue with the original title intended as "Could You Walk On The Water". Decca vetoed the title and the tracks were rescheduled also, providing the new "Aftermath" title. A new sound was emerging, with Brian Jones introducing a sitar and dulcimer on some tracks, the music's development had taken a dramatic leap from the Stones previous 1965 "Out of Our Heads". "Aftermath" was issued in mono and true stereo, becoming the first Stones album recorded and mixed in stereo. A 1966 stereo pressing of this LP is extremely rare, especially for the condition of a now 44 years old record and cover.
Rarity is judged on the amount of records pressed as well as age, in the UK "Aftermath" made it to No.1. Mono was the standard format bought that sent the LP to the top spot, but try finding a mint mono 1st pressing! The matrix numbers of Decca's 60's records are the easiest to find a record's exact date from, for a 1966 first pressing they end with "-1W" on at least one of the sides. This has both side's matrix ending "-1W"/ "-1W", without any question this is the very 1st stereo "Aftermath". The USA LP was issued later in August with different tracks and a different cover, selling as well, making the No. 2 chart position. Condition of a 44 year old record is vital to assess the sound quality, and "Aftermath" is a really tough album to find without heavy wear and severe sound deterioration.

This record is in stunning condition without a mark on either side it has the sound of an unworn 1st Decca pressing, just awesome!
The labels are in superb condition, the unworn spindle areas have faint traces of having been played only 3 / 4 times! Those few plays were made with meticulous care, without any track skipping and most importantly of all, with a perfect needle. Not only are there no surface marks of any kind, the sound quality is as mega sharp as the day it was pressed!
For this heavyweight vinyl the few plays are incidental, this is the finest looking 1966 stereo record I've seen , but also the best I've ever heard. The record is in such stunning condition
I don't hesitate in grading it Mint, with those spindle use traces or not. "Aftermath" has
extremes of sound, from the gentle delicacy of "Lady Jane", to the 11 minutes long blues
extravaganza of "Going Home", both tracks are in the same amazing power of this very 1st stereo mix, playing in crystal clear audio.
This is no ordinary stereo mix, it's a staggering
way to hear the album!
