Description

1964 UK Decca LK 4605 'The Rolling Stones' LP and only produced in mono. The matrices on the dead wax runouts are XARL-6271-1A and XARL-6272-4A for Sides 1 and 2 respectively so this is a second pressing with the longer version of 'Tell Me' on Side 2.

The sleeve has a laminated front which extends back round over the two flipbacks and spine thus protecting the latter also. Needless to say the lamination has safeguarded the edges and mouth very well.
Physically it's in strong and solid shape with no rips, splits, tears, writing or sticker blemishes. Decent squarish corners with a tad of rubbing. Has some ringwear and the common laminate creasing due to the plastic shrinking over time. Invariably the 'plain' rears attract grubbiness over the passing years but this one is remarkably clean allowing for its' age! What is does have along with the inside of the sleeve is some foxing (age browning) but it can be forgiven that.
So mechanically it's a fine sleeve yet with some cosmetic blemishes so I rate it 7.75 /10 for condition.
The inner sleeve is a solid yet plain die-cut jobbie with foxing and creasing and probably not original to the album but it is what it is.
As for the record, it's flat with a decent sheen to it. On my scale it reads 149g so has a good weight.
The silver on red labels at the holes show evidence of a healthy amount of spins. I've angled the disc in room daylight at the window and then inspected it under a bright light. I see some light marks and hairlines on the otherwise fine playing surfaces so visually I'm plumbing for 7.5 /10 for condition of the vinyl.
By way of a playtest I'm listening to it now on my Linn / Naim hi-fi system. It plays good. On the dead bands between tracks there can be the usual 'noise' which is usually associated with static from dust on the needle but to my ears this record plays well. I really can't hear much of any pops or clicks etc. yet it's not perfect of course so aurally I'm giving the disc 8 /10.
99p start and the auction will run to the end. Should you disagree with my subjective appraisals then no problem to return of course.
