Description
ROY EVANS is called "The Eccentric Voice" on this 1931 record - the only place I've seen this designation - and that's actually the case here. Columbia had a hell of a time trying to market him, placing his records in the Race, Hillbilly and Pop series simultaneously! He's the only artist who ever pulled off this particular 'Trifecta'!
BENNY GOODMAN (clarinet) and MANNY KLEIN (cornet) are heard to musical advantage on "ROLL ON, MISSISSIPPI, ROLL ON," making it more than just a pop novelty. "THERE MUST BE A BRIGHT TOMORROW" is on the flip, and a better Depression-beating philosophical discourse could hardly be imagined.
This original 1931 English Regal MR-431 is in sturdy E- condition. Master pressings, both sides. A little wear, a few scratches and I'm outta here!
