Description

ROBIN TROWER "BRIDGE OF SIGHS" Original 1974 U.S. white label promo LP consisting of 8 Hard Rock tracks by the great British Power Trio (Chrysalis) CHR 1057 MINT! The much sought after second release by this classic band featuring Robin Trower on lead guitar, Jim Dewar on bass & lead vocals & Reg Isadore on drums.

Robin Trower was already well known as a proficient lead guitarist when he decided to go solo & form his own power trio in 1973. He was first in Gary Brooker's R&B band the Paramounts & then moved on to Brooker's legendary Progressive Rock band Procol Harum. Trower played on all the Procol Harum albums up through 1972's "Broken Barricades". But he decided to go solo when he was inhabited with the ghost of Jimi Hendrix. Like the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Trower formed a Power Trio & released the excellent "Twice Removed From Yesterday" in 1973. He recruited Jim Dewar as his bassist. Dewar had been in Linda Lewis' back-up band & it was soon revealed that he had one of best British blue-eyed soul voices this side of Paul Rodgers. The drum slot was filled by Reg Isadore- a well known session player. The first album received good reviews & sold fairly well but it was 1974's "Bridge Of Sighs" that broke the band on FM radio & is generally considered the high point of Trower's long career. No Top 40 hits were forthcoming but this album contained many Progressive Rock favorites such as "Too Rolling Stoned", "Day Of The Eagle" & the title track but all eight songs are quite good. It's a very listenable record that combines elements of  Blues, Psychedelia & Hard Rock with excellent guitar work from Robin Trower & great vocals from Jim Dewar. This is the original hard to find white label promo pressing that looks like it was manufactured yesterday.
