Description
ROBERT WILSON / BYRD HOFFMAN SCHOOL OF BYRDS : The Life and Times of Joseph Stalin (no label [USA]) 1973.
Record looks virtually unplayed, but there is a strange pressing flaw at the very beginning of side A, a very slight deformation on one edge of the record only, causing very quiet noise once per revolution for about the first 45 seconds of the first track. It is not conspicuous and probably wouldn't be noticeable at all but for the fact that this track (like much of the LP) is very quiet. We've seen one other copy of this LP with the same flaw; it doesn't seem like it could have been caused by the usual factors that warp LPs, so we assume it was a pressing defect of some kind. It's a pretty poor pressing all around, even by 70s US private press standards, which combined with the quiet nature of the recording, makes for some noisy parts, but nothing too bad, and probably no different than these sounded when brand new. In original plain white cover, as issued. Cover is still in shrink and slightly soiled/discolored at the edges (see photos).
Original copy of the only LP by American artist/designer/theatre director Robert Wilson. This is an abridged version of what was apparently originally a 12-hour "silent opera" from circa 1973, privately released in a plain white cover with no information at all, other than the title (Wilson is not credited).
