Description
1966 Island ILP 942 UK LP 'Barefootin' by Robert Parker.
The lamination on the sleeve front extends back onto the spine so the rear is 'plain' and as such is a tad grubby as shown. It's a strong sleeve with no seam splits or writing and with fairly decent edges. Flaws include laminate and other creasing, ringwear and general light wear due to the passage of time.
So it's a strong cover yet with cosmetic blemishes so overall I give it 5.75 /10 for condition.
The vinyl itself is flat with a brightness to it and with clean Island 'white' labels. At the spindle hole is evidence of a healthy number of spins of the record.
Angling the disc under the unforgiving table lamp I see light scuffs and hairlines, the most noticeable being at the start of side 1 ('Barefootin'). Such superficial marks shouldn't affect play but for its' visual appearance I rate the record 5.5 /10.
Next is the acid test on my Linn /Nim hi-fi system. The aforementioned title track plays well as do all the other tracks. Sure, clicks and a few pops in places yet it sounds good to my ears. Generally 'quiet' on the dead bands between the tracks which is a good sign. For playability then I give the record a conservative 7 /10.
