ROBBIE THE WEREWOLF: At the Waleback (no label C-127/1964)

Robbie Roberson was an original member of the L.A. psych band Clear Light, and was married to Sandy Roberson, lead singer of Peanut Butter Conspiracy. He was soon divorced from both. Could it be because they discovered this record hidden in his deep dark past?

Seriously (though this is the last time you'll hear that word referring to this album), this record is a true blast. Robbie sings traditional sounding folk songs with tongue piercing cheek, both in his delivery and his rewording of some classics as well as his original (and that word is an understatement) offerings, like the folk blues masterpiece Count Dracula ("I'm going down to the blood bank to make a withdrawal"). "Drac's" echoed maniacal laughter has to be heard to be believed (Myeh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-he!).  Robbie also takes a Tiptoe Through the Wolfbane, strolls down the Streets of Transylvania, censors Tom Dooley and sings a cheerful ditty about meeting a fine fellow he calls Frankenstein ("I shook his hand, he shook my throat, then he threw me in the moat").

This album has left many a listener creating their own maniacal laughing, with and without echo.

The cover is in fair condition. As seen in the photos, there is tearing on the front & back covers, and much creasing and wearing away of the black coloring. There are small splits on the top and bottom seams.

The record has survived the years much better than the cover. It looks VG+ (light marks on both sides; no deep marks or scratches). It plays VG+ (intermittent light crackling on several tracks; a few low pops).

GENERAL INFO

SHIPPING: Shipping costs will be quoted based on cost for estimated weight plus $1.00 to cover most of the cost of packing materials.

All records are packed in in between two cardboard filler pads and shipped in professional cardboard mailing boxes. All unsealed  12" records are taken out of their covers to prevent seam splitting. If there is a custom inner sleeve, the record will be put in a separate white inner. If a 7" record comes in a picture sleeve, the same procedure is followed.

GRADING: I grade records both visually and audibly. As grading is so imprecise and subjective, I don't have a set grading description like you see listed in many auction and collector magazines. My grades for  records and covers are based on the overall conditions I describe in each auction; I will note any visual defects and (for the vinyl) any non-musical sounds (pops, clicks, skips, etc.).
