Description
Original 1981 USA pressing 12" promo single on Motown Records PR-83. RICK JAMES - 'Superfreak' - the national anthem of Funk. The great thing is the cover is signed by Rick. Record was found in a collection of promo stuff (along with most of the funk/soul LPs and funk & disco 12"s I've listed for the last 2 weeks). Collection was found right here in Buffalo NY, the hometown of Rick. He wasn't just "from" Buffalo, he continued to live here after becoming famous and always returned here.
I have NO doubt as to the authenticity. There's various reasons besides what I already said, but in any case, its 100% guaranteed. I wouldn't MIND getting it back cause I kinda want to keep it anyway (I do collect local stuff, though not so big on the funk...). You'll have 30 days (from receipt of package) in which to have it checked out for yourself, etc. Returnable for full refund for any reason, in that time period. You can't go wrong! AFTER NOT SELLING FOR A FEW 3-DAY PERIODS I'VE REDUCED THE PRICE. THIS IS NOW AT THE FINAL REDUCTUON, IT WON'T BE ANY LOWER. ANY LOWER THAN THAT AND I'LL BE (HAPPILY) KEEPING IT.
Labels are Near Mint. Vinyl is a lower VG+ (lower grade, but no real problems - just surface marks that won't interfere with play, on a full-glossy grooves). Cover is about VG++. Autograph condition is VG++ to NM-; nice clean signature, personalized ('to Teena'), written boldly in pen. In the upper left corner there's also the initials RJ. Not as sure about that - draw your own conclusions about that - though I think it also came from Rick.
A great piece of funk soul history and pop culture history, straight from the Buffalo scene.
