Richard Davis "Dealin'" (Muse 5027) LP 
Great session of soulful, spiritual music led by the innovative bassist.
Musicians are Davis on bass, Clifford Jordan - saxophone, Marvin Hannibal Peterson - trumpet, David Spinozza - guitar, Paul Griffin - keyboards and Freddie Waits - Drums.
The vinyl is shiny & glossy. Record sounds excellent except for several random ticks, the source of which I can't see or feel for the life of me.
The sleeve is fine, has no issues.

Biography

Richard Davis grew up in Chicago, and was inspired by Jimmy Blantonto study the bass. While still a student, Davis played night gigs with Sun Ra--who gave Davis tips on how to avoid the draft. He played extensively with Sarah Vaughan and a host of other notable jazz artists. Eric Dolphy was a close friend and Davis played with him frequently. Dolphy nicknamed Davis the "iron man".   

In addition to his jazz roots, Richard Davis is a proficient and versatile double bass player who has recorded in a variety of contexts. One notable appearance is on Van Morrison's Astral Weeks album. Richard Davis  also is a well-versed performer of Euro-classical music. He played in Igor Stravinsky's symphony, and was Stravinsky's favorite bass player.   

Stylistically, Davis is known for melding jazz and Euro-classical influences.   

Beginning in 1977, Davis became a professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has continued teaching and performing ever since, making particular efforts to promote diversity education.
