This is the album with the liner notes Michael Stipe used as the lyrics for "Voice of Harold" from the album "Dead Letter Office" and the B side for the single release of So. Central Rain. I have listened to the entire album. It plays quite well considering this record was never really intended as one to be preserved for the Ages... of You. Few pops and hisses here and there. Quite listenable. But if we are honest, and you know what you're looking at, then it's the cover that counts on this one a bit more than the wax. It will not disappoint. The sticker from the record company which contains the lyrics
The lyrics, "Planning to make a record? We are associated with United Music World Recording Studios Inc., West Columbia SC. The finest sound available anywhere" IS NOT PRESENT. That portion was a sticker typically on the few copies sent to radio stations and studios as promos. The rest of the lyrics are present. I absolutely love the image on the front. This gospel album was released in the late 60's, I understand, and it's fascinating to observe the psychedelic revolution even influenced gospel album design.
This is one of the rarest pieces of REM Memorabilia a fan can own! And lets be honest. "Voice of Harold" is better than "Seven Chinese Brothers" in some strange comforting way.
