Background -
As classical LP collectors are aware, Remington Records did not have a very good reputation with audiophile collectors specifically. Remington LPs were a product of the times. New technology was being deployed moving production from the 78rpm shellac records to the newer 33rpm vinyl. In making these changes in production, the vinyl recipe used was less than perfect. Remington records were less than perfect with pressing bubbles, clicks and pops, rough sounding vinyl, etc., all seemed to affect their titles. However, the performers and performances were typically first rate, many of which could not be had on any other label - hence their rarity and collectability.Simon Barere (1 September [O.S. 20 August] 1896 – 2 April 1951) was a Russian pianist. His surname is transliterated Barer, but as an adult he adopted the spelling Barere in order to reduce the frequency of mispronunciation.
Barere was born in Odessa (then Russian Empire, now part of Ukraine) as the eleventh of thirteen children in a Jewish family. He studied at the St. Petersburg Conservatory under Anna Yesipova and then Felix Blumenfeld. Pianist Vladimir Horowitz was also a pupil of Felix Blumenfeld, although Barere was Blumenfeld's preferred student. After graduation, he played concerts throughout the region and taught at the Kiev Conservatory. He emigrated to Berlin, then to Sweden, and finally to the United States. During the autumn of 1935, he toured the UK under the management of Harold Holt, making a number of appearances as supporting artist to Richard Tauber.
Barere was especially known for his speed and finger dexterity; his rendition of Balakirev's Islamey and many other recordings were acclaimed. According to music critic Harold C. Schonberg, Barere produced a colourful piano tone and could also be highly musical.
Barere gave annual recitals at Carnegie Hall which were often recorded by his son, Boris. Among the performances recorded live in 1947 at Carnegie Hall was Liszt's Sonata in B minor, which was released on Remington Records in the 1950s. Other Barere performances include Liszt's Spanish Rhapsody, Reminiscences de Don Juan and Hungarian Rhapsody No. 12, Blumenfeld's Étude for the Left Hand Alone, and Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2.
On 2 April 1951, Barere suffered a cerebral hemorrhage during a performance of Grieg's Piano Concerto at Carnegie Hall, with Eugene Ormandy conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra. He collapsed and died backstage shortly thereafter. - wikipedia

CONDITION Details:
The LP jacket is in near mint minus overall condition. The jacket is tight and clean, with NO seam splits. It does however have a small number written on the back. The colors on the jacket are sharp and clean with just a bit of color foxing. The jacket has light shelf wear along the seams and corners, nothing serious.
The LP is in excellent overall condition! The vinyl has no serious marks. It does have some spider marks (caused by sliding the LP in and out of the inner sleeve). There are some finger prints, dust and a dirt on the LP so it's best to give it a thorough cleaning before playing for best results. Note that spider marks may sound, depending on the sensitivity of your audio gear...some extraneous sound is inevitable and should be expected for a vintage LP (especially on Remington LPs). This LP retains some of the original gloss and sheen. There are NO serious spindle marks on the record labels.A Short Note About LP GRADING -
- Mint = Only used for sealed items.
- Near Mint = Virtually flawless in every way.
- Near Mint Minus = Item has some minor imperfections, some audible.
- Excellent = Item obviously played and enjoyed with some noise.
- Very Good Plus = Many more imperfections which are noticeable and obtrusive.
For best results, always thoroughly clean your LPs before playing them.
LPs can be audiophile quality pressings (any collector of fine MFSL, half speeds, direct to discs, Japanese/UK pressings etc., can attest to the difference a quality pressing can make to an audio system).
