Description
R.E.M. began their decades-long career in Athens, GA, in 1980. Nearly FORTY FIVE years ago! The band broke up in 2011, and remained friends through the years. Each band member has been involved in solo albums and other projects since they called it quits. R.E.M. started out as a college alternative rock band, but ended up becoming one of the biggest bands in the US! They sold over 90 million albums worldwide, and their music is legendary...
One of those great classic albums is called 'Reckoning', their second studio album, released FORTY years ago, in 1984. It's also sometimes known as 'File Under Water', and it gave us the hits "So. Central Rain (I'm Sorry)" and "(Don't Go Back To) Rockville", both outstanding early alternative tracks! The album has fantastic artwork on the cover, and is in demand for that reason alone. In today's rockin' good deal, we feature that classic, on vinyl, with FOUR bonuses!
First up is 'Reckoning' on vinyl LP. The cover's face looks great, but there's some damage on the spine (and a little on the corners). The vinyl itself has light surface marks on it, mostly on side 'R' (the right side), and side 'L' (the left side) looks much better. I never played this, as I have the 2009 remastered deluxe edition, so I'm not sure about the sound quality. The inner sleeve looks great, but has a split on all three sides, each a couple of inches long.
You also get a couple of 12" maxi-singles from R.E.M.! First up is the 1988 single for the track "Finest Worksong", taken from the '87 album 'Document'. This is the 12" version, with the lengthy club mix, and the "other mix"! Plus they add the live version of "Time After Time", recorded live in Holland. (Please note, this is NOT the Cyndi Lauper song of the same name. It's actually "Time After Time (Annelise)", from 'Reckoning', but here they shorten it to simply "Time After Time"). The vinyl itself looks great, and is shiny and clean. Jacket looking awesome, as well.
The second 12" is for the 1992 track "Drive", from the album 'Automatic for the People', also released in '92. "Drive" is the first single released, and the first song on the album. This 12" is the remixes, which includes the 'Primary Remix' and the 'Secondary Remix'. This is a promo copy, so it was never for sale to the general public. The vinyl itself looks great, and is still shiny and clean. Jacket looks really good, with only a little shelf-wear, mainly on the corners and spine. Generic inner sleeve.
Next, you'll receive two CD singles with cool R.E.M. tracks! First disc is for the song "Electrolite", released in 1997. Taken from the album '96 album 'New Adventures in Hi-Fi'. That awesome song is here with two live B side songs from their video 'Road Movie', plus a remix of another B side track called "King of Comedy". Disc is shiny and clean, and the case looks great as well.
Last disc in this crazy good deal is the song "Lotus", from 1998, and a three track single! "Lotus" is from their '98 album titled 'Up'. It's here with the album version, the 'Weird Mix' remix, and a B side track called "Surfing the Ganges". Disc looks great, and is shiny and clean. Slimline case looks new.
Bring home this five piece bundle of rare and really cool R.E.M. vinyl and digital music today. That band from Athens did very well for themselves, and created some timeless classics that still sound great to this very day!
