FREAKY STYLEY

Their second album lacks the firepower of the Peppers' more hard-rocking future recordings, more than a few Peppers classics reside here. Highlights include "Jungle Man," "Hollywood" (a reworking of the Meters' "Africa"), "Nevermind," "Catholic School Girls Rule," and the oft-overlooked "The Brothers Cup." FREAKY STYLEY helped set the stage for one of the Peppers' finest albums, 1987's THE UPLIFT MOFO PARTY PLAN.

THE UPLIFT MOFO PARTY PLAN

was the album in which the Red Hot Chili Peppers' sound came together. Producer Michael Beinhorn (who would later go on to produce such other alt-rock notables as Soundgarden and Hole) helped the Peppers incorporate more of a hard-rock approach to their already rich blend of funk and punk, with often explosive results. The songwriting is more focused this time around, while the playing is consistently energetic.Though the album is strong on the whole, selected highlights include "Fight Like a Brave," "Funky Crime," "Me and My Friends," "Backwoods," "Behind the Sun," "No Chump Love Sucker," and the X-rated "Special Secret Song Inside." This would be the best (and sadly, final) album to feature the Kiedis/Flea/Slovak/Irons lineup--Slovak died from a drug overdose in 1988, and Irons exited soon after, turning up several years later as the drummer for Pearl Jam.

MOTHER'S MILK

is dedicated to the memory of the Chili Peppers' original guitarist Hillel Slovak, who died of a heroin overdose in 1988. BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK

For their fifth full-length release and first for Warner Bros, the Red Hot Chili Peppers enlisted the talents of producer extraordinaire Rick Rubin. It resulted in the band's breakthrough record as well as their high-water mark, a sprawling 17-song punk/funk/hip-hop hybrid awash in sexual innuendo and references to drugs and death. Blood Sugar Sex Magik (1991) produced no less than five hit singles including "Under The Bridge," "Give It Away," "Breaking The Girl," "Suck My Kiss" and "If You Have To Ask," selling over 15 million copies in the process. Pressed on180-gram double vinyl and includes lyric insert.

ONE HOT MINUTE

Following-up the band's 1991 masterpiece Blood Sugar Sex Magik and featuring Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro in place of the recently departed John Frusciante, the Red Hot Chili Peppers 1995 album One Hot Minute distinguishes itself immediately from the band's previous and future releases with a more heavy metal guitar dynamic and glimpses of psychedelic rock. Although this incarnation of the band would be short lived, their collective output here doesn't lack in ambition and One Hot Minute finds the band maturing on many musical levels. Special limited numbered pressing on red vinyl with a 3D Lenticular jacket.

CALIFORNICATION

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' 1999 album Californication was one of the most anticipated in the 2012 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees' career and it saw the group reuniting with both producer Rick Rubin and guitarist John Frusciante, neither of which had been in the fold since their 1991 masterpiece Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik. The 15-track set yielded an assortment of hit singles including “Scar Tissue,” “Otherside,” and “Californication” to go along with the fan favorites “Around the World,” “Road Trippin’” and “Parallel Universe.” Californication also marked the beginning of what would become the most stable period of the band's tenure, enduring without another personnel change until 2008. Pressed on 180-gram double vinyl and includes photo insert with lyrics.

The 10th album of the Los Angeles band's singular career sees the band refreshed, renewed, once again working with producer Rick Rubin (their fifth partnership, including the last album, 2006's monster Stadium Arcadium double album tour de force).
