Description
Tchaikovsky Symphony Number 5 in E minor Opus 64 Monteux/Boston Symphony Orchestra
RCA Red Seal Living Stereo Original 1958
Stereo – SB.2045
Living Stereo Label / “stereo-orthoponic”
A great copy - from the earliest RCA stereo series of the late 1950s, not a repressing.
The Recording Quality
The recording itself is of an excellent quality and well engineered – there is great depth and prescence.
The condition of the disc itself
Record glossy and free from surface scratches though it has been in and out of the cover and played a few times in the fifty years! I have played the record on my Project RPM3 turntable and there is underlying surface crackle only noticeable at the beginning of the record where the strings come in very gently, and when played at high volume only. Other areas where the music is very quiet do not crackle at all. The disc looks near mint, and plays much better than VG condition, closer to Excellent condition by Record Collector descriptors.
The condition of the sleeve
Sleeve excellent and better, the cover is NOT CREASED (the picture suggests a big crease top right of the cover but this a light effect). These RCA albums have thin sleeves and this one is fantastic, no tears or lamination lifting. Very slightly worn at corners but hardly noticeable. Rear sleeve in the same excellent condition, flipback very tight as new (where front sleeve overlaps rear sleeve to top and bottom). Original very early inner sleeve marked Sterophonic in perfect condition along with inner sleeve polythene lining. Great quality, no adhesion to inner sleeve.
I am prepared to send this abroad although the postage will obviously need to be met, Deserves a to go to a discerning home. Thanks for looking and happy bidding!
