Description
RCA LSC 2446, RIMSKY-KORSAKOFF - Scheherazade, Fritz Reiner, Chicago Symphony (1960) 10s/10s, A2/A1 (I) Indianapolis pressing (Mohr/Layton). This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old shaded dog pressing. It spent many years HP's TAS Super Disk List, and the sound is huge, exciting and dynamic – it is set a very wide and deep stage with powerful bass. This copy is very close to mint and plays almost perfectly. The vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and EXCEPTIONALLY quiet. There is one scuff near the end of side 2 that makes no sound except for 4 soft tics just as the music is ending. There are also a couple of other barely audible tics on this side. The vinyl grading is NM/NM-. The labels are clean with NO wear or spindle marks (see photos). The jacket has no seam splits or corner dings and grades NM (see photos), and the inner jacket is NM also. In summary, this is an almost perfect copy of this wonderful golden-age recording.
