Description

RCA Living Stereo Original LSC 2398 TAS list Kondrashin/RCA Symphony a Orchestra  Mohr/Layton historic recording of the Kabalevsky -The Comedians and Khachaturian -Masquerade Suite is available with your winning bid. This record has been played through in its entirety for critical grading.

This pressing is a 3s/3s stamper. It has strong performances, great dynamics and a open soundstage with lots of hall ambience and instrument detailing. It is a great sounding copy that has almost no playing time ( see below ).

The record was play graded by listening through each side in its entirety. Both sides have clean surfaces with no scuffs and there are no spindle marks. Visually this record would rate mint.

Sonically there are a few random light background tics on occasion that are indicative of the way new pressings played nearly sixty years ago.

The record plays without distortion and the mentioned tics are not intrusive and the record plays like a new lp release of 55 years ago...it has stunningly wonderful performance by Kondrashin and the premier RCA recording team of Mohr/Layton. This record was highly regarded by The Absolute Sound and has been a long time resident on the recommended list.

I know there is a wide variety of grading variances by collectors. If your ratings for mint allows for a random occasional tick then this record would probably rate mint minus. It does sound like a new record....you only have to hear the harmonics to realize that this disc has had almost no play and it is one of the quietest copies of this I have ever owned.

If you collect only absolutely pristine no noise lps this one will not be something for you even though this record approaches that for 55+ year old vinyl. It is a wonderfully enjoyable record and plays probably like it did when opened. If you bid on the basis of mint minus rating I think you will be quite satisfied with this record.

The cover/jacket is in nice shape with a few lightly soiled areas that you have to look for and that will probably clean up on the back.

Background information: I am a music collector and audiophile. Selling duplicate copies is not a lively hood but a way to help fund my wife's and my heart for serving overseas with a non-denominational non profit organization and to help get quality hard to locate records into the hands of music lovers.. I go out of my way to accurately describe the condition of anything I sell and my eBay ratings affirm this point. I would not appreciate a surprise if I were buying a record and do not want you to be disappointed either.

I sell quality records that I myself would buy. I fully play through each record I sell.

Playback is through my personal stereo which has a two well respected turntables with high end moving coil and moving magnet cartridges that are painstakingly set up and maintained. I use a high resolution tube preamp and full range electrostatic speakers and additional sub woofers to grade each listing. My system is neutral and transparent and revealing. I cannot guarantee how the record will sound in your home because people use a wide array of gear set up in unique acoustic settings adjusted to personal tastes.

I can spend countless hours tweaking a cartridge. I hear minute differences in VTA, tracking force, anti skate and even the base the turntable rests upon. The way you have yours set up may highlight a certain aspect of a records character.  I strive for a balanced musical set up where small differences between pressings are easily heard but the musical heart of the recording is still allowed to thrive. I only offer records that I myself would buy.

If you cannot stand any noise on an LP I ask you not to purchase anything I offer even if rated mint. I have found even new sealed pressings often to have occasional tics and pops. Occasional pops and light tics can be found on most records that visually rate mint..that is why I audio grade each LP.

I have an outstanding eBay rating so you can purchase with confidence.

Shipping: You have three options:

1. US Postal Media Mail where a signature is required to verify safe delivery. I will cover the additional signature cost.

2. UPS ground with a signature to guarantee safe delivery where I pay the additional $4 signature cost.  I will securely ship your record via UPS with required signature upon delivery to insure safe delivery. As stated, the additional charges for the required signature ($4.00) are absorbed by me but does help prevent the chance of packages being stolen from a mail box or front porch.

3. I will only sell to international buyers who use PayPal and who are in countries where eBay ships through its international shipping program.

I absorb any other shortfall in UPS charges that often occur due to calculator underestimates. I also assume all costs for new shipping boxes, bubble wrap and extra strong strapping tape. ( My packages are sometimes a little larger and heavier than other shippers but I have yet to have anyone receive a shipment from me have yet to be damaged ).

Shipment is normally made within 24 hours of receiving your Pay Pal payment which should be made no longer than 24 to 48 hours after placing the winning bid. I notify you the day shipment is made and provide a tracking number so you can monitor the shipment.

I reserve the right to not sell to eBay members who are problematic such as those who have slow or no pay histories or those who also offer excessive negative feedback. I would like to think I am one of eBay's good guys and want to deal with similar people.
