Description

RCA Living Stereo LDS 6065  in original Soria and its original Classic Records remastering are available in two two record sets. The Soria  original LP is a second original RCA Living Stereo version for comparative sake.

The original two disc set offers a very transparent glimpse of the the master tape and offers an interesting contrast with the 2 record 180 gram Classic remastering. It does not have the original Soria box.

This record is one of most sought after of the entire Living Stereo catalog and is a long time resident on the TAS list. I am RCA classical completist and possibly have every early Living Stereo classical release and this records ranks in the top 10 sonically in my opinion. The Classic remastering has been played through one time and is in outstanding condition (see particulars below).

The original release has exceptional dynamics and a captivating sense clarity at times and an enjoyable harmonic envelope and realism that must be heard. It has background tics throughout and all sides are ticcy still all the music is clearly available and the dynamics and harmonics have a way of drawing me into the recording in a very captivating manner. These original discs have light surface scratches that do not feel to the touch but can be seen in bright lights at an angle.

The original two disc Soria does not have its original box or insert...you are purchasing two original stereo pressings in paper jackets. Record surfaces are vg to vg+ due to the background tics throughout. The LP plays without distortion and the music is accessible. Side four is ticky throughout and has some louder crackles..vg-? Side three has its share of louder ticks in the opening elsewhere. Side two has a patch of loud ticks toward the last track.

I purchased the Classic stereo remastering when it was first released. The record was sealed and I may have only played a few of my favorite cuts upon and most of the sides were not played. It has sat unplayed until now and I played graded all four sides so most of the record has really been only played one time.

The visual grade for this record would be mint...there are no scuffs or spindle traces. The record is pristine in appearance just as it came sealed from the store shelf.

The record jacket is in very collectible condition and the inside booklet is as it came from the printer.

So we have a record that has been basically played one time on high end gear and it sounds just as it did the day I opened it. It's is basically as new. I would rate this record nm which means it plays as from its sealed jacket but it does have some minor imperfections as shipped...see below.

I rate records with no background sounds as PRISTINE. Those records have cd like backgrounds. These records almost rate that way. Disc one ( side 1 & 4 plays mint- with a couple of random tics but both sides play quieter than many of the records I own.

Record two ( side three and four ) do have a few very light background sounds and a few louder random pops which do not impose upon my listening enjoyment...it is simply the way the record was shipped and the sounds noted are few and again not intrusive overall to me, you may find an occasional tic bothersome so I would ask you to consider placing a bid with this in mind. One side of this second LP has a few crackle sounds near the beginning of the first cut that last a few seconds ( pressing flaws). Even with these I am not kept from immediately being captivated by the incredible detail, clarity, sound staging and sense of realism offered by this outstanding remastering and the London Underground ( subway ) which ran near or under Covent Garden is clearly audible in some cuts.

If you demand pristine surfaces I ask you not to bid on this record because although it is stunning in its sonics and performance it is not cd like in its background throughout in its entirety although it does approaches that level at much of the time.

Background information: I am a music collector and audiophile. Selling extra copies is not a lively hood but a way to help fund my wife's and my heart for serving overseas with a non-denominational non profit organization and get some great recordings into other music lover hands. I go out of my way to accurately describe the condition of anything I sell. I would not appreciate a surprise if I were buying a record and do not want you to be disappointed either.

I fully play through each record I sell. I reserve the right to not sell to people with problematic eBay histories with things such as slow or non-payment or who offer excessive negative feedback. Please contact me with any questions before you place a bid.

Playback is through my personal stereo which has a two well respected turntables with high end moving coil and moving magnet cartridges that are painstakingly set up and maintained. I use a high resolution tube preamp and full range electrostatic speakers and additional sub woofers to grade each listing. My system is neutral and transparent and revealing. I cannot guarantee how the record will sound in your home because people use a wide array of gear set up in unique acoustic settings adjusted to personal tastes.

I spend long hours hours tweaking a cartridge. I hear minute differences in VTA, tracking force, anti skate and even the base the turntable rests upon. The way you have yours set up may highlight a certain aspect of a records character.  I strive for a balanced musical set up where small differences between pressings are easily heard but the musical heart of the recording is still allowed to thrive. I only offer records that I myself would buy.

If you cannot stand any noise on an LP I ask you not to purchase anything I offer even if rated mint. I have found even new sealed pressings often to have occasional tics and pops. Occasional pops and light tics can be found on most records that visually rate mint..that is why I audio grade each LP and listen through them in their entirety.

I have an outstanding eBay rating so you can purchase with confidence.
