RAY CATHODE – Time Beat ORIG Parlophone 45 / 45-R 4901 (UK, Mono, 1962)
IN 1959 MADDALENA FAGANDINI JOINED THE BBC RADIOPHONIC WORKSHOP FROM THE BBC ITALIAN SERVICE. IN 1962 SHE JOINED FORCES WITH GEORGE MARTIN AND TOGETHER THEY MODELLED ONE OF FAGANDINI'S INTERVAL TUNES "TIME BEAT" IN TO AN ELECTRONIC DANCE TUNE.
Happy to present this early 60s electronic oddity released just before George Martin teams up with The Beatles to re-write pop history. This is him getting to grips with the then new electronic possibilities and while ‘Time Beat’ is great, electronic collectors should appreciate the flip ‘Waltz In Orbit’ which sounds way ahead of the game for 1962. Remember this was pre Delia Derbyshire’s re-working of Ron Grainer’s initial Doctor Who theme!
The labels are nice – full colour, moderate spindle evidence. Some (very, very) light pencil on the B.
The vinyl is in VG+ (Very Good Plus) condition. Some light marks and isolated scuffs. Has been play checked and plays very well with no snap, crackle or pop. No sticks or jumps.
Important early electronic 45! No reserve.

I do not use any more than ONE plus or minus between grades. After all, WHAT ON EARTH DOES VG+++++ MEAN? What is NM+? Or EX---? These are just some of the ridiculous gradings I’ve encountered on eBay. I am very careful using the EX (Excellent) grade. Excellent, by dictionary definition means ‘extremely good’ NOT ‘marked and slightly beat up with wear’!
