RARE Walt Disney - ICHABOD - Sleepy Hollow - Bing Crosby
Here is a rare, double 78 RPM record album set on the Decca label. It's taken from the soundtrack of a very charming Walt Disney story called "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow." Bing Crosby narrates the story, both in the movie and on these records, along with music from Ichabod and Brom Bones! The records and jacket are in exceptional condition, considering they're more than 50 years old now. There is a small tear in the paper jacket at the top front, just to the left of Bing's name. The records have a few minor scratches, but they play beautifully and even have much of their original sheen. It would be very difficult to find this rare Disney item in better condition than this! Sleepy Hollow was first released on October 5, 1949. The characters include Baltus Van Tassel, Brom Bones, Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane, and Katrina Van Tassel. Watching "The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow" was an annual Halloween event at the Ichabod Crane Central School district in New York for many years. The high school even has a Sleepy Hollow statue of Ichabod wooing Katrina in the lobby. Just spooky enough for everyone to enjoy, yet not so spooky that kids can't handle it. Even folks who hate cartoons like it. Could the Headless Horseman be Brom Bones in disguise? After all, he was singing about him at Katrina's party! "With a hip hip and a clippity clop, He's out looking for a head to swap, But don't try to figure out a plan, You can't reason with a headless man".
