1964 MONO first pressing vinyl... the first album by the mighty DC-5 that thrust them next to the Beatles for the royal British crown of rock & roll ...
The Dave Clark Five's first album overall a pretty exuberant slab o' vinyl that rocked pretty hard for the most part, paced by the three Top 10 singles "Glad All Over," "Do You Love Me," and "Bits and Pieces." It was a huge seller as well, peaking at number three and remaining in the charts almost as long as the albums by their chief competitors of the era, the Beatles. And it does have cool original songs that does not show up on their greatest hits: the solid pop/rocker "I Know You," the raucous Twist and Shout styled "No Time to Lose," and the surprisingly savage "Chaquita," an inversion of "Tequila" with its snaky, growling guitar riffs and dirty sax.
The Dave Clark Five released five albums in 1964, the first two releases coming only two months apart from one another. This first release, "Glad All Over" is their strongest long player from '64. The best track is the bombastic stomp and echo of "Glad All Over". Also worthy of mentioning is the chaotic "chain gang" backing vocals during the cover of "Stay" is certainly a highlight. But again the surprise of the album is the swampy jungle groove and rattlesnake shake in "Chaquita" that could have fit rather nicely into a Tarantino movie. Lastly, not forget the foot stompin' rock & roll injection: ‘Bits & Pieces’.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: The thick cover is "EX (EXCELLENT), front cover, VG+(+) back , only slight wear starting on back and its no more than all text over-viewing who these LONDON cats are. Tight and solid all over, no concerning problems anywhere (see photo - collection worthy all the way!) ... There are no split seams, no bends, no writing, no delete marks ...it's the RARE first issue cover that was quickly withdrawn and then re-released with a totally different cover....and its a nice artifact copy!
