Description

The Who - Youg Man Blues / Substitute - Decca 32737 (US) 1970 m- / m-

OK ... here's the deal. This is the cornerstone of my personal collection. I HATE to sell it, but ... financial concerns have made me decide to put it up on the ol' auction block. First off I want to avoid the whole reserve price thing, so the starting price is high but it is the bare minimum I'll accept for it.

A little background... this 1970 single was to be the follow up single to the 1970 hit single "Summertime Blues"from the LP "The Who Live At Leeds". Apparantly the band had strong objections to this single being issued (probably because of the planned release of the new studio tracks "The Seeker" & "Let's See Action"). The single was immediately withdrawn and the sleeves which were already produced were used for the promo version of this single, extremely limited in it's own right (the last one of the promo singles I know of that came up for sale went for $350.00) . It was thought for years that the none of the stock copies existed, either they had never been pressed or whatever had been pressed had been destroyed. A few years ago a very small quantity of these singles had actually surfaced (could be as little as a small handfull). Also making this copy even odder is that the printing on the b-side is printed on an upside down label.

The only report of one of these I've ever even heard of coming up for sale happened a few years ago, a copy in less than perfect condition and without the sleeve. It sold for $3500.00.

This copy is nearly perfect condition. The only marks on the record are just a few marks from being pulled out of the sleeve and you'll have to get it under bright light to notice and even then you probably wouldn't see it (most would probably still consider this a dead mint single). It plays clean & silently and loud as hell. Amazing! The cover has a slight bit of dark ring on both sides (see scans), but a very skilled hand could probably remove it. But not a single sign of splitting anywhere. Absolutely beautiful!!!!

THIS IS EASILY THE RAREST PRODUCTION WHO RECORD IN EXISTANCE, AND ONE OF THE RARESET ROCK RECORDS OF ALL TIME! IT IS QUITE LIKELY YOU WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER COPY OF THIS!!!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
