'tri-coloured' version made available for public purchase. 50 copies were distributed randomly by Third Man records
Spillers Records in Cardiff was the only shop in the world where fans
could buy this vinyl version of Evil, Tom Jones' collaboration with White
Stripes rocker Jack White and here is your chance to own one.
All 100 copies of this limited edition single were sold within 30
minutes of the store opening on Saturday 3rd March.
Fans and record collectors from as far as Rome queued all night to get their hands on a rare edition.
The release was put out by Third Man Records, a label set up by former
White Stripers frontman, Jack White, which specialises in producing limited
edition records. Jack White also co-wrote the new single with Sir Tom Jones
and appears on the track.
Spillers Records in Cardiff was the only shop in the world to stock
the single. And the reason for this. Sir Tom, who was born in nearby
Pontypridd, bought records from the shop as a schoolboy in the 1950’s which lays claims to being the world’s oldest record store,
Spillers Records is listed in the Guinness World Records as the oldest
record shop on the planet.
