The first issue cover was not rerally designed to last for 30 years. Designed by Roger Daltery himself, the front features a die cut "ripped" look and the back features raised braille dots thoughtfully providing the blind with the record details and track listing. These somewhat extravagant features were dropped on all later pressings due to the expense. They also mean that most of these first issues that turn up are badly damaged - ripped and the braille worn and rubbed.

This cover is in very good condition, clean, unlaminated matt finish... the front has two minor tears on the die cut section - small and unobtrusive, but they are there. There is also a crease where one of the rips has caused the small section to pull back a little. The back cover features the braille dots and the Gothic Print Finishers credit (both the only real way to tell a true first issue) The braille dots are totally intact with no rubbing. There are a few light age spots, but the back cover generally looks great with no ringwear. The top and bottom edges have minor rubbing with a bit more at the corners. The spine is reasonably sharp, just a little flat with minor rubbing. The open edge is strong and sharp. excellent condition, very clean, gatefold format, unlaminated, satin finish. All in all, the cover is nice - no stains, no marks, no ringwear, no writting, no stickers or residue and it grades a STRONG Very Good

The inner sleeve is the original plain white one and is in excellent condition.

The rare black and white gatefold insert is immaculate!!! It features all the song lyrics and brief descriptions of what the songs are about. It  has the catalogue number and says "Printed in England", again showing it to be a very first pressing as all the reissues were printed in Germany. It looks almost new with no creases and grades MINT-

The VERY RARE poster is also stunning! This is very hard to come by now and has a full colour picture of the band live on stage in November 1973 during their North American tour. This one was never hung up and was barely handled. There is a bit of yellowing on the back, but it does not interfere with the picure. MINT-

The two matt black TRACK labels are crisp and clean. These 1st matt black labels tend to show the spindle marks... On side 1 there are several spindle marks, on side two there are none!!! You can really tell that this has only been played a handful times and has been very well looked after and I would grade the labels MINT-.

The vinyl is stunning!!! The record has a wonderful glossy shine and looks factory fresh!!! Hardly any (only one or two) very light surface marks on either side can be seen at an angle under a bright light, and they do not sound, also indicating that it was played only once or twice. Stunning and new looking!!! The audio is simply superb with barely any surface noise of which to speak of! Even the run ins are near silent! Crystal clear audio definition with the warmth and punch which make these 1st issue original pressings so sought after. There are no clicks, pops or background/surface noise. Amazing for a 30 year old record and a STRONG EX+/M-

 I have listened to the record all the way through to ensure an accurate description - aurally, I would grade this NEAR MINT!!!
