Description
**RARE** THE BEATLES "VISIT TO MINNEAPOLIS" ~ MELVIN RECORDZ MMEP001A **PROMO**.
RECORD: (VG++ to EX),
PICTURE SLEEVE (Strong VG++),
LABELS; M-
This title was a very limited edition "promo" made and distributed from Minneapolis by Melvin Recordz (MMEP001A/B).
I saw one on Ebay sell a couple weeks ago which was only the 2nd time in Two or Three-years I've seen the title.
I was working in a record store at the time this record came in. I don't remember ever seeing the title for sale and as far as I know, this title was only released as a "promo".
The Record is a very nice (VG++ to EX). I've owned the title since it came into my store new & I've never played it. I'm judge the condition by using a strong sun spectrum light.
The Picture Sleeve is a solid (VG++). There are no: tears, cuts, seam splits, writing, tape or stickers. As you can see in the photo there is a record impression on the sleeve front and a "scrunch" on the lower-right corner. There is NO ring-wear at all.
Other PS imperfections:
- 1st, as you can see in the photo, almost every copy I've seen were glued with a water-based glue which always soaks into any uncoated paper (like a number of the old Mercury & Phillips sleeves), and fortunately it's only visible on the rear.
- 2nd, because the bottom rear flap wasn't properly glued along the top edge, when another record was slid behind this title, in most cases it would get caught on the un-glued portion of the top of the bottom flap. Just about every copy I've seen of this sleeve has a couple 1/8" tears, bent back areas. or scrunches along the top of the bottom flap. There was one that sold a couple weeks ago that had the exact same issue.
The Labels are a beautiful (M-) and are as close to perfect as they can get.
In Minneapolis, The Beatles were covered from the minute they stepped off the plane & saw approximately 5,000 adoring fans, the entire interview led by WDGY was also taped for television news. The Beatles were interviewed by WDGY radio, The Minneapolis Star Tribune, & St. Paul Pioneer Press news papers. Bill Carlson was the lucky hired photographer who snapped away at everything from their first steps off the plane, the press conferences, interviews, fun hotel room tussles, and the infamous 30-minute performance. In 2007, these exclusive photographs from the Minneapolis tour stop were finally published for the first time in a beautiful, hard-cover book by Bill Carlson; "THE BEATLES! - A ONE NIGHT STAND IN THE HEARTLAND - A Collection of Original Photographs from AUGUST 21, 1965".
