I have collected records since I was very young, however Iincreasingly I have realised that I have far too many, and soI have been slowly trying to rationalise my extensive collection over the years, I have sold many major rarities over the years, from major BEATLES and 60s rarities, through PUNK and PROG ROCK, CLASSICAL and BLUES. Basically I've had alot of very rare records and in dribs and drabs have sold them off. I've never had negative feedback, and had many repeat customers.

THE BEATLES Paperback Writer RARE TALL FONT small "P" RAREST TYPEFACE!

1966 represented a a pivotal year for the fab four, this was the year that their touring America got socrazy, and so frenzied that not only could the audience barely hear them play,but they could barely hear themselves play, and as such they felt that it was limiting their creativity a bit, and by the end of the year,they were considering a break, but I'm running a little ahead with the chronology...

1966 represented the first year that THE BEATLES only produced 1 album, rather than two, not only that, but they only produced 2 released tracks that weren't on that album, as a single, this is that single,and was a complete change,not onlyin their sound and songwriting, but paved a huge step for all pop bands of the 60s! It was written by Paul in response to his Aunt asking if he were able to write a song that wasn't just a love song, but it didn'tjust represent new songwriting themes, they had been looking to innovate their sound, and John had demanded to know why certain American Soul singles (in particular Wilson Pickett's) were able to have such powerful and deep bass whereas they were stuck with a "thinner" sound. In response to this they tweaked and tweaked and pushed the technical boundaries, until they were able to create a bassier and fuller sound than anything they had produced before!

Paperback Writer now represents oneof the scarcer 60's Beatles singles to locate, however, short of the near mythical Solid Centre copies, the rarest variants of these already more difficult singles has to be this TALL FONT variation. So rare in fact, that whilst researching and compiling photos for their magnificent book "Beatles For Sale On Parlophone Records" Bruce Spizer and Frank Daniels had to resort to a computer generated image (something they didn't even need to do forsomeof the rarest Beatles records around) for this record. Now, I'm not suggesting that this beautiful disc is in the same league as variations of Stereo Gold Parlophone PleasePlease Me's,which they did have the correct images for, but it has to count for something whenmajor variant completists are missing this label!

The font used for both the song titles and publishing info is significantly taller than any other label variations of any Beatles singles I can think of, but also the encircled "P" of the publishing date,is signifficantly squatter than the date it's next to, all in all arather unique label font!

Record Condition: VG+ A really strong one, just light surface hairlines etc onlyreallyvisible when angled into strong direct light. Beautiful audio, as you'd expect from such a lovely looking disc!

Labels Condition: VG+ atricky one because they are pretty beautiful,apart from one faint, little distinguishing dot (possibly nail varnish?) near the title of the B-side. Other than that, really wonderful, completely free of stains, scuffs, tears, rubs, grafitti etc. A few couple of light spindle trails visible near the central spindle holes, but other than that,beautifully crisp, and extremely well looked after!
