COXSONE RECORDS - 1973 ! JA JAMAICA Pressing !
from the net : Released circa 1973. The B side is credited to The Skatalites but was actually originally released/credited as Lee Perry - Dr. Dick
to confuse things even more , from what i can tell it was actually King Perry , which is Lee Perry's other name . and matches what is on youtube under lee perry
also this review of the dr. dick song ;
You may know him as Lee Perry, but in 1966, the singer donned his stethoscope to become "Doctor Dick", who was renown as "an injection specialist". There's no doubt where the physician is going with this number, especially when a stricken woman shows up at his surgery needing his immediate attention. The backing Soulettes play it straight, but Perry has a whale of a time with his own slyly suggestive lyrics, chuckling his way across the song.
Of course the prudish were scandalized, but it's difficult to be offended when everyone around you is having such a grand time.
Perry treats the song as the witty joke that it is, the backing Skatalites (if there had been a video, they'd be dressed as nurses), keep it equally light, with the insistent rhythm snapping along and pianist Jackie Mittoo's strewing sensational riffs and melody in every direction.
above is all about the b side , but the A side from ALTON ELLIS , is really good too .
record is VG to VG+ ( leaning more towards vg+ ) ( nice overall with some very light lines/marks/light scratches . a very few of which are very slightly feelable with the edge of a fingernail , if you catch them just right . i played both sides , and it played great , with some very minor surface static/noise , very low in the mix , and with some very minor ticking . still a very enjoyable listen , in my opinion . NO skips on my turntable with lightweight tonearm and light tracking force . writing on label , see pics )
