Description

Ray Charles ** 78 RPM 10" ** RARE! BLUES/JAZZ ** USED

Items in this lot are:
  • The right time / Tell all the world about you -- Label: Atlantic -- Record#: 2010

Special note to foreign bidders: I declare foreign shipments as merchandise with the value you bid for them. Shipment to foreign buyers is via priority mail international with insurance for the value bid. E-mail before you bid as this method costs more to ship, but is insurable and trackable. Example: United Kingdom 2-3 pounds $29.75 + $1.85 box/tape/pack = $31.60.

Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding/buying.

Feedback/bidding policy: I check feedback daily and will return feedback promptly. Although I go to great lengths to accurately describe my items, if you feel the merchandise is not as described, e-mail me BEFORE leaving feedback and we will resolve it. Please note I do allow returns (see return policy below).

Description: Up for your consideration is the next in a series of unique 78 RPM this one featuring the legendary Ray Charles.

Several things about this item make it unique. Firstly, although the item has a mostly dull finish with up to some heavy marks, I did take the time to play the disc and found the two sides to audibly average a bit better than half way between VG and VG+(excellent). You can assign your own grade based on my comments below.

Secondly, at the time of this listing, no past/present sales on e-bay!

So this is your chance to own a unique item at a reasonable price. Although it certainly is not anywhere close to mint condition, it does play through and might be a very good addition to your Ray Charles jazz / blues collection. I recall the song "The Right Time" was performed on The Cosby Show with little Rudy Huxtable singing the "baby" chorus. It is further described in detail below, please take the time to read before bidding. Please e-mail if questions.

My system for playing 78s is an old Zenith system that plays four speeds and allows me to turn a knob to allow for playing 78 RPMs. If you have a player specifically designed for playing 78 RPMs or can clean them, it (they) may sound even better.

Be sure to check my other listings to save postage on multiple winning bids. Please explore the "Me" link above(next to feedback rating) to check out my store and some of the 15,000+ records / books / CD's / cassettes I have for sale as well as the LP to CD transfer service I offer.

I am using the Goldmine scale of G=Good(1), VG = Very Good(2), VG+ = Very Good Plus(excellent)(3), NM = Near Mint(4) when grading the disc(s).

Here is a summary of the record(s):

Artist: Ray Charles Title: The right time / Tell all the world about you Record: Black vinyl with a dull finish, up to some heavy marks. Labels: Red/black with red/black print. A sticker on one side (see scan), no pen/pencil marks, lots of spindle marks. Trailing wax: Side 1: "A-3194-11". Side 2: "A-2971-11". Inner sleeve: Will be included with a generic 78 RPM sleeve and sandwiched between two heavier pieces of cardboard when shipped. Comments: This is a truly unique item. I found the two sides to audibly average a bit better than half way between VG and VG+(excellent). You can assign your own grade based on my comments below. A unique addition to your 78 RPM Ray Charles / blues - jazz collection. Side 1: Comments: The right time Up to a constant light/moderate surface noise with lots of very light to light pops (2.5). Side 2: Comments: Tell all the world about you Up to a constant light surface noise with some very light to light pops(3.1). Additional criteria I use when audibly grading records for people:
  • NM(4) = absolutely nothing wrong at all (very rarely happens--I've even opened sealed records and they don't play Near Mint)
  • 3.5-3.9 = very, very light surface noise
  • 3.1-3.4 = very light surface noise, very light pops
  • VG+(3) = up to light pops and light surface noise (below this, one's enjoyment is affected, very subjective)
  • VG(2) = up to medium pops and moderate surface noise
  • G(1) = up to heavy pops and heavy surface noise

I would ship this in a 14"x14"x6" box padded with styrofoam. Weight with box is about 2 pounds 4 oz. I have successfully shipped 78s without breakage.
