PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. MEGA RARE 70's "LOST" PRIVATE PRESS HAWAIIAN PSYCH UNKNOWN !
HOWARD NISHIOKA
STREET SONGS
\ USA - (PRIVATE PRESS) OTARO RECORDS
SUPER RARE 70's "LOST" PRIVATE PRESS....
Street Songs is a secret leftfield voyage into Hawaiian psych unknowns. All one has to do is hear the way-out fuzz guitar jams in "Carnivourous Dogaramus". Listen to this track by clicking on this next line:> Howard Nishioka - Carnivourous Dogaramus (Hawaï, 1970)
...Nishioka's guitars cast a wide net from electric-detonated space solos to acoustic-led meanderings verging toward American Primitive territory. There is cohesion, though, in his essential looseness of delivery. Looks like Street Songs has become a real holy gral for a lot of record collector folks, getting three $$$ figures in collector circlea arouynd the globe. The following year, Nishioka laid-down one of the wildest 7"s of all-time as a leading member of that raw feedback-punk phenomenon, The Fuckin' Flyin A-Heads.
Acid Archives recommended: "If I had to distill the essence of this album down to one word, I would go with Maelstrom. If I've got two words to work with then it's Shit Storm. Howard Nishioka, who plays electric and acoustic guitar and bass guitar (and vocals on a couple songs), sounds like a man tearing holes in the atmosphere to get at those bright stars shimmering above his secluded Hawaiian compound deep in the woods.
In truth, I don't know if he really recorded this out in the trees but that's how I imagine it. On the other hand, he called the record "Street Sounds" and the colors bordering the rather incongruous street scene could cause one to mistake this for a reggae record, instead of the uncompromising fried improvised pyschedelic folk masterpiece that it is. Maybe the disconnect between the cover and the music are what kept most psych afficianados off the scent for so many years (the album was released privately by Nishioka in small numbers in the 70's).
As ferocious and chaotic as this record gets at points, there's also an underlying calmness and gentleness and some mellower tracks that balance things out nicely. Howard is joined on two long songs by drummer Byron Kitkowsky (who compliments Howard's shambolic style expertly), and recording engineer Richard Kon contributes washboard and shouts. On the back cover, one finds a concise summation of Nishioka's approach to sound (and life?): "Screw Limitations!!!"
