PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Please give us 5 stars in each category through the feedback system, and we will be able to effectively continue to fulfill your passion for rare and collectible music! We have served thousands of satisfied customers - far more than our feedback records indicate - and our aim is to continue to do so. Thank you for your interest and support. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SHIPPING: USA ~ 1 LP $4.00 Media; 2-4 discs $5.00; .50 each additional disc Priority rates vary by area; please inquire. BLUE VINYL
RARE ((ACID ARCHIVES)) Original 70's first pressing vinyl of one of the strange underground psych bands...sadly they made only one album, but in retrospect it is probably surprising that even this one album exists...
$27 Dollar Snap On Face were a stoned crew of hippie freaks whose album, when absorbed is a thoroughly entertaining platter of original compositions...on the suitably raw and hard side led by wired razor guitar breaks, the songs are memorable enough highlighted by one of our all time faves, TIE YOUR BOOTS TIGHT, an ode to meth amphetamines...a classic in its own rite and a recreation the band obviously enjoyed tipped off by the 'tweaker' art found on the inside of the gatefold ... Often the band sounds akin to something of a poor mans "It's All Meat" which is good enough for us and always provides fun listening throughout both sides....
$27 Dollar Snap On Face:
- rhythm guitarist Joe Doherty,
- drummer Ron Ingalsh,
- bassist Steve Nelson,
- lead guitarist Bob O'Conner
- singer David Petri.
Released locally in Northern California just after the turn of the mid 70's, The $27 Snap On Face album was on the "Heterodyne State Hospital" independent label. The cover features the band posing as patients of the fictitious Heterodyne State (Mental) Hospital. The back cover reveals additional photos of the band in their asylum poses, faces and limbs contorted and wacky.
These guys were seriously crazy. Well, as one critic suggests, "they weren't really asylum inmates (perhaps quite a damaged crew, but not certifiable)." Onstage, the band lived up to their self-created persona as mentally disturbed individuals by dousing themselves in ketchup, lighting stage props on fire and, at one show christened 'Jacques Cousteau's 25th Annual Toga Party,' performing in a homemade bathysphere on a stage littered with helium-balloon fish. Sounds pretty freaked-out. Not surprisingly, they were very good entertainers and a lot of fun to watch.
Sonically the set was pretty basic, with much of it sporting a distant, kind of echoy sound. 'Course that only enhances the proceedings. Petri's snarling voice and O'Connor's chunky guitar (love the unique $ shape guitar - see the inner cover for a picture of it), propelled most of the album giving tracks like 'Turn To Glass', 'Kicking Around' (the most conventional and accessible song) and 'Let's Have An Affair' a unique garage-cum-punk sound. Strange liner notes coupled with tracks like 'Tie Your Boots Tight', 'Sleeping in a Technical Bed' added in a healthy dose of weirdness. Still, the results were actually quite energetic and entertaining. Mind you, it's got a place in my 'keeper' collection (selling a duplicate copy). The band apparently pressed 1,000 copies and all were pressed on clear blue vinyl.
Gotten real had to find as the collector circle heavies have all 'found out' ...
