Description
In the year between September 1962 and September 1963 19 Tamla Motown records were released in the U.K. on the Oriole label. None were hits at the time but they have all become collector’s items subsequently, including some that are regarded as classic records now.
At the time I was in my mid-teens and a Motown fanatic before the words ‘Tamla’ or ‘Motown’, or any of their artists were ‘household names’ here in the U.K.

Then (in 1962/63) I bought 18 of them. (The only I didn’t buy was 1808 as I had the tracks on an imported LP). In the 1980’s I gave away three (1763, 1775 & 1799) and last week I sold the rare Valadiers single (1809) - still leaving me with 14.
For sale here is one of my favourite records of all time - The Miracles ‘You Really Got A Hold On Me’.
Both sides of the record play absolutely perfectly. Visibly, both the A side and the B side ‘Happy Landing’ have a couple of superficial marks but, as I’ve said, plays perfectly. I can hear no extraneous surface noise. I have graded the record as Very Good+.
The record is in it’s original sleeve, which has no tears but over 58 years has experienced being handled quite a few times and been subjected to a few house moves, so is not pristine but is in good order. I have graded the sleeve as Very Good.
Neither the record itself nor it’s sleeve have any handwriting on them.

and 5) shows my remaining Motown records on Oriole - 14 in total, in chronological order per the list above.

My personal favourite Tamla Motown act were The Miracles and I was privileged to be able to see them in 1965 when they toured the U.K., along with a lot of the other top Motortown acts at the time. I recall my experience of that unforgettable evening 56 years ago in an article I co-wrote for Toppermost, when I also managed to speak to Smokey Robinson for a couple of minutes.
