We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office. Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has become very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our well over 18,000 positive feedback. We use an ultrasonic KLAudio machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. Always been rare...Original 1969 (((MONO))) first pressing by an obscure girl group trio...an album that has always been intriguing.

The deal of importance is the MONO release is really rare... MONO records were phased out by the end of 1967 ! Go figure with this one!?! Never saw this one before in MONO which delivers different song mixes from the stereo issue.

Recorded in 1968-69, stylistically its about four to six years behind popular tastes (think Shangri-Las). Throw in the fact this girl group trio came from Memphis and you have a true musical oddity in your hands.
Kay Evans, Sandra Jackson and Judy Williams became friends while attending Memphis' Messick High School. Interested in music, they started singing at school assemblies and local events. Their big break came in 1967 when they entered a local talent contest and won. The winning prize included an audition with Stax Records.
Impressed by the trio, Stax signed them to it's newly formed HIP subsidiary; in the process making them the first female group signed by the Stax organization (and one of the few white acts on the company's recording roster).
Hip Records released as a single, "Condition Red" b/w "Didn't Know Love was So Good" (Hip catalog number 8005) provided the group with an unexpected hit. A classic slice of teen death drama the song's DOA message and sound effects that are simply hysterical. With the single peaking at # 46 on the national charts, Hip wasted no time jumping at the resulting marketing opportunity. Rushed into the studio to record a supporting album 1969's "Sugar Coated Goodees" offered up an odd mix of pop moves, pseudo-soul ("Girl Crazy") and girl group classics ("My Boyfriend's Back" and "He's a Rebel"). None of the three girls were particularly strong singers, all 11 tracks were sung in group unison. Some of the tracks are weaker than others, but there are quite a few winners. "A Little Bit of You" is a great slice of catchy poprock; they turn in one surprisingly raunchy take on "Double Shot Of My Baby's Love" and "Jilted" is noteworthy for its risqué he-left-me-pregnant lyric), pther tracks offer up nice infectious pop grooves. Overall strange, but well worth having in one's collection.
