TUCKY BUZZARD
...Warm Slash...
USA - CAPITOL RECORDS - ST 864
TOP <---> FINAL COLLECTION COPY!!!
STILL IN ORIGINAL FACTORY CELLOPHANE
Original 1971 first pressing of a hard hitting guitar rocker crew who issued several Lp's, none better than this, their WARM SLASH second album...very hard to find, especially MINT like this!
This hard rock TUCKY BUZZARD outfit was most famous for having been produced by Rolling Stones Bill Wyman (pictured on back cover, 'peeing' no less). Tucky Buzzard's Brown, Graham and Taylor had all previously been in the great UK psych band, The End.
Warm Slash is one of Tucky Buzzard's finest moments opening with the griding Mistreating Woman with good guitar work. Elsewhere on the same album there's more grit rock with Burnin' and some good rock'n'roll on (She's a) Striker
Tucky Buzzard's Nick Graham left to join Skin Alley in March 1972 and Paul Francis (ex-Tony Jackson and The Vibrations) left to join Fuzzy Duck. Further line-ups followed with Val Stevens being ex-Khan, and Paul Kendrick possibly being the Czar bassist. The seldom mentioned British proto-prog/hard rock band Tucky Buzzard. Formed from the ashes of the demise of the group the End, Tucky Buzzard caught the attention of the Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman, who took the band under his wing and managed & produced the band, and their first three albums Tucky Buzzard, Warm Slash, and Coming On Again, released in the years 1971 & 1972. The band played in a style that can be best compared to contemporaries like Humble Pie, Cressida, UFO, Deep Purple, Uriah Hee, Grand Funk Railroad, Warhorse, Bloodrock, Spooky Tooth, Cactus, and Captain Beyond, with stinging, bluesy guitar riffs, heavy rhythms, swirling organ, and husky vocals. Honestly, we're surprised that Tucky Buzzard rarely gets mentioned at all in hard rock circles seeing as how good this long out of print album is. The LP shows the band in raw, hard rockin' form. TUCKY BUZZARD at the time was comprised of Jimmy Henderson on vocals, Terry Taylor and Paul Kendrick on guitar, Nick Graham on keyboards, David Brown on bass, and Chris Johnston on drums (who had replaced Paul Francis mid-way through the recording of the album). Guest guitar parts were played by Mick Taylor from the Stones. There's no shortage of classy hard rock and early psychedelic prog moves on Warm Slash, like the scorching "Which Way, When for Why", complete with plenty of fiery guitar solos and tasty organ. Elsewhere the tracks reflect for a very fine album, which features hard edged guitar/organ and adventurous arrangements. Tucky Buzzard would go on to record two more albums before breaking up in the mid-70's. Most of you have probably never heard of this excellent band, but now you can check them out and see what the secret has been all these years. Highly recommended for fans of the above mentioned bands, and those who like early 70's music with lots of guitar, organ, and strong vocals.
