RARE, CLEAN 1969 Original first pressing vinyl by this underground USA psychedelic sixties band who made but this one album to be filed next to the likes of ANIMATED EGG, John Bunyan's Progressive Pilgrims, The Firebirds, Astro Sound and T. Swift & the Electric Bag = all in the league of cool weirdo exploito-psych albums...
The ORANGE GROOVE is rare and was scarce to be seen even in the sixties...one of the hardest to find in the genre, turnning up 10 times less than the albums by the bands listed above = this one is "rare" ...
Released by the L.A. based Somerset label which was apparently part of Alshire Records, 1969's "Crystal Blue Persuasion and Other Sounds of Today" by THE ORANGE GROOVE was actually a little different from other exploito albums in that nine of the ten tracks were uncredited originals. Like other exploito offerings, the set was anonymous. The title track was a strong echo reverb guitar led take of the hit, while the nine originals all exhibited a low-tech garagey 'in-crowd' charm. Exemplified by material like 'Down Home Baby', 'Sockerina' and 'Poppy's To Be Picked' about half of the tracks are reverb & fuzz / farfisa organ propelled go-go tunes. Even more interesting are psych-ish numbers like 'Can't You See I'm Right', the fuzz guitar propelled 'Troubled People' and 'Street King' (the latter sounding like The Chipmunks on a bad acid trip). Interesting enough, "Astro Sounds" Lp by 101 Strings contains the song "A Bad Trip Back To '69" which is also done here by the Orange Groove...

CONDITION: The Cover: all solid everywhere M (-) top level clean wall display item worthy ... never found but even so chances it would be dirty and split, this is a perfect example of a top level clean 41 year old rarity...no split seams, no bends, no writing ...stiff & solid....
The Vinyl: all glossy clean and clear over both sides...M (-) top level with clean labels ... chances are you won't find a better copy out there....
