MEMPHIS PSYCH BLUES-ROCK 45: HOMEGROWN (Dave Cousar) Three Days Ago/Loaded
Homegrown 001, rare early release by Dave Cousar group from Memphis. Songs written by Cousar, produced by Cousar & Perry Barrett. According to SXSW bio of Cousar: "Over the course of the years he played and toured around the globe with artists from Jim Dickinson to Rufus and Carla Thomas, studied classical guitar theory, and recorded with the likes of Al Green, Willie Mitchell, and Memphis chanteuse Susan Marshall (backing vocalist for Cat Power’s The Greatest). In addition to his regular gigs at “The Buc [Buccaneer Lounge in Memphis],” he can occasionally be spotted playing with Marshall, Star and Micey (Ardent Records), and his friends in Lucero. Each of these experiences added a rich subtext to the way he hears music in general, especially his own. “I played with in lots of different formats, as a journeyman guitarist…. but playing solo allows me to explore the guitar in a different way…. I like so many different kinds of music from chamber music, prepared guitar music to rootsy to beautiful pop songs.”Record is VG with some scuffs and small scratches. Label damage on one side (see photo).

GRADING: LPs, EPs and 45s are graded M (mint), NM (near mint), VG+, VG (very good), VG-, G+, G (good), G-, F (fair), and P (poor).
A VG+ record may have some visible scuffs and light scratches and plays well with little surface noise. Scratches on records graded VG and VG- may be deep enough to feel with your fingernail, or there may be scuffs or scratches throughout that cause surface noise. On records in the G+, G and G- range the level of the music is still above the surface noise caused by scuffs and scratches. Surface noise is as loud as the music on records graded F and louder than the music on P records. P records are likely to be unplayable.
[+ and - denote in-between grades. Grades with a slash in between indicate the condition of Side A/Side B.]
Jackets graded VG+ have only slight wear; jackets graded VG are more worn but still intact unless defects are noted. G jackets show definite damage and F and P jackets are probably falling apart. Splits, markings, cut corners, and other defects will be noted.
