RARE KOSTAS Costas MOUNTAKIS Greek Cretan LYRA LP NM
This is an ultra rare LP record titled "Around the World" featuring "Costas Mountakis", a master of the Greek "lyra" (lyre) and an influential proponent of Cretan music. Along with Thanassis Skordalos, Mountakis was important in the spreading of Cretan music to an international audience after WWII. This album was titled "Around the World" as a reference to Mountakis' many world tours. This record appears to have been released around 1972, just before the end of his final world tour (see liner notes). I haven't been able to find another copy of this record anywhere - in fact, vinyl recording of Mountakis seem to be as rare as chicken's teeth. This copy is in near mint condition and was manufactured by United Sound of Burbank. This is great addition to a record collection, especially if you're a fan of Greek music….please click on any photo in order to enlarge…..no reserve on this never-seen record…..
