Description

You are bidding on John Coltrane’s “My Favorite Things” vinyl record. This is the 1st mono pressing released by Atlantic Records with the white fan on the orange and purple labels. What makes this particularly rare and of value to most collectors is these labels feature the Deep Groove on both label sides which is hard to find on the mono release of this record.

This comes with the original inner sleeve (not graded).

RECORD GRADE (VISUAL/AUDIO): VG+/VG+

This record is overall in wonderful condition. Visually there are some light scratches that don’t affect play other than a whisper of a noise thru the tracks.

But what knocks this down to VG+ are two offenders: 1st on side 1, there is a feelable scratch (see pic) at the end of track 2 that creates a repeatable tick throughout the last couple of minutes of the song or approx 54 rotations.

On side 2, there appears to be a pressing error of some sort (see pic) that again creates a tick that lasts approx 11 rotations, a much smaller issue audibly speaking, even if it appears worse than the side 1 flaw.

Other than these two issues, the record plays beautifully with little to no noise.

COVER GRADE: NM

Visually this laminated cover is in beautiful condition given the age with no signs of delamination and only a hint of shelf wear on the back. Seams and spine are strong and in amazing condition. No splits or writing. (See pix)

If you have any questions or would like more pix, please feel free to contact me. I offer a guarantee on my records so please do not hesitate to purchase. Check my feedback.

Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!

GRADING SYSTEM:

MINT (M): Sealed record. I will never grade anything as mint unless it is sealed, at which time it is presumed to be mint.

NEAR MINT (NM): Typically my top grade. The record or cover will show the most minimal of wear. The record will have top gloss. The cover will be free from any ring wear, splits, or handwriting.

EXCELLENT (EX): Not quite Near Mint but a super clean, desirable record, showing a few superficial markings on the vinyl that do not affect playability and the cover free of splits, and any major ringwear.

VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+): The record or cover will show signs of wear but no significant defects. There may be superficial markings in greater abundance, potential for minor groove wear. None of the above affecting the playability to any great detriment. Cover may show signs of more significant ringwear, minor splits or seam/spine wear.

VERY GOOD (VG): Obvious signs of wear but the record still has life in it. The scratches will be more feelable resulting in minor pops or clicks. Skipping should not occur though at this grade. The cover will show greater signs of wear, (ringwear, splits, writing).

VERY GOOD MINUS (VG-): The record or cover will show moderate to heavy wear. For a common record this would not be an acceptable grade. For an in-demand, rare record it should be considered. Skips may be present as the feelable scratches will be much more prevalent. The cover will show heavy wear.

GOOD (G): Very heavy wear. This grade would only be acceptable if the record is rare enough that you might not see another copy available for sale or it's a rare record at a low price. I will rarely sell a record at this grade
