Larry Young's Into Somethin' Album on Blue Note. Need we say more. What a Perfect piece of vinyl this is, and it's reputation has always preceded it proudly and rightfully. From the Reid Miles Cover photo that evokes all the sideways cool of this particular album and it's label, to the five compositions contained on the virgin vinyl. Line up is of course Sam Rivers (Tenor sax); Larry Young (Organ); the mighty Grant Green(guitar) and the legend that is Elvin Jones (Drums). It is Blue Note 4187, High Fidelity 43 West 61st St., New York 23, Microgroove New York Label with the Van Gelder stamp and the ear stamp in the dead wax. One Serious piece of music. The cover has at some point possibly had tape or something down the spine, this is no longer there, it has left no sticky residue and has actually served rather nicely in keeping the spine in perfect condition. The date '12 November 1964' has been written on the back neatly and 2" across below the track list for side one. This is not intrusive, but photos can be provided if it's a worry. I have a feeling it used to belong to a radio station at some time and so after about 2 plays probably just sat on their shelves. This accounts for the wonderful condition of the vinyl which has three small soundless surface marks. The Cover can be considered a very High VG+ if not EX and the vinyl is also VG+ to EX.

Record Collector Magazine Grading System. MINT The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Un played should be Mint. EXCELLENT The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing. VERY GOOD The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable. GOOD The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc. FAIR The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced. POOR The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing. BAD The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
