RARE, HAND-PAINTED SLEEVE: The Wedding Present - 'Brassneck'. Cat no. PB 43471

Very rare, hand-painted, limited, numbered edition of 'Brassneck', by the Wedding Present. Each of the four digits in the limited edition number (1385 in this case) were painted by a different member of the band. The symbols stamped on the back are some sort of key to who painted what (although I don't quite see how that works?).

This record was bought as a collectors item and so I have never played it or taken it out of its plastic sleeve protector (until today). A little spot of red paint has decided to stick to the plastic sleeve rather than the record sleeve, which is why you can see it missing in the first photo and back in the final photo ;-) .

Thanks for checking out this listing for one of my old 7 inch singles. I have owned all of the singles in my listings since (pretty much) the time of release and have inspected them all again prior to listing here, so I know the history and condition of each one quite well.

The condition of this particular record and sleeve are displayed in the 'Condition' section at the top of this listing. Please refer to the paragraphs at the bottom of the page* for a full explanation of what the abbreviated terms mean and how the records have been graded.

In the cases where I have listed the vinyl as being in Good (G) or Good Plus (G+), it is most likely because they have some visible groove wear, caused by a worn stylus. This is not always fully audible, depending largely on the equipment that you are using for playback. At worst, you might hear a form of mild distortion, especially in the louder passages.

So, please allow for the fact that vinyl in G, G+ and even VG condition will all have some degree of audible imperfection and bid accordingly. I cannot accept any record for return based on playing defects, if it has been fairly described in my listing.

Finally, please note that I do not offer any records for sale that would be classified as Poor or Fair (i.e. with significant jumps or scratches on the playing surface). This is because I have already disposed of any such singles that were found in my collection.

*Record/sleeve condition grading system explained:

(NM) Near Mint

A nearly perfect record. A NM record has more than likely never been played, and the vinyl will play perfectly, with no imperfections during playback. The record should show no obvious signs of wear. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as any sign of slight handling. An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits, cut-out holes, or other noticeable similar defects. The same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves, etc.  

(VG+) Very Good Plus 

A Very Good Plus record will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Defects should be more of a cosmetic nature, not affecting the actual playback as a whole. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK". The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. Spindle marks may be present. Picture sleeves and inner sleeves will have some slight wear, slightly turned-up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear, and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation, or cut corner. In general, if not for a couple of minor things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.  

VG (Very Good) 

Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time. 

(G) Good, (G+) Good Plus

A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be played through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise, scratches, and visible groove wear. A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear, or other defects will be present. While the record will be playable without skipping, noticeable surface noise and "ticks" will almost certainly accompany the playback.
