Album Notes:
This is the white soul/funk/rock unlike anything you've heard before. The mega-rare first pressing of the Rare Earth's first album (on Verve records) starts with a spoken narrative which then progresses into a most surreal version of Supremes' "Stop in the Name of Love / Where did our love go", ever committed to vinyl, replete with 'trippy" psychedelic harpsichord, organ-playing-in-your-mind, arrangement ornamentation closer to Vanilla Fudge than Motown, and rhythm section that positively kicks b*tt. This is more of a psychedelic album, than a vigorous blue-eyed soul work that Rare Earth later became known for. In addition to the above mentioned Supremes covers, the album contains the studio version of their rendition of Smokey Robinson's "Get Ready" (their signature song), plus the super bass-heavy version of the Coasters' "Searchin". A must for any white funk or psych aficionado
