Rare Revolver

 Dr. Robert on disk and sleeve!!!


A chance to own a very early pressing of Revolver.

 

Revolver first appeared for sale in August 1965, using the misprint of side two track “Doctor Robert” as “Dr. Robert”.

 

This pressing is identifiable by:

 

·       Times New Roman font, displaying the incorrect Dr. Robert spelling on side two, which only the earliest copies have!

·       Each song title was followed by song credits and then lead vocalist. The credits pattern of “Song (Composer)-Lead Singer” switched to “Song-Lead Singer (Composer)” probably in late 1966, confirming this an EARLY PRESSING.

·       Matrix of side one: XEX 605-2

·       Matrix of side two: XEX 606-3

 

Rated by many as their pinnacle, Revolver is The Beatles' follow up to Rubber Soul. The song Tomorrow Never Knows included the seminal use of tape loops on a pop album. The innovation portrayed on this album cemented The Beatles position at the forefront of music, leaving all challengers in their wake and setting the foundations for Sgt. Pepper.

 

Condition (in line with Goldmine Magazine guidelines)

Vinyl- VERY GOOD. Record shows some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. It has wispy marks from being removed from the sleeve to be played which do not affect the actual playback, other than the slightest of crackle in the quiet passages of Eleanor Rigby and Here There And Everywhere.

 

Label-  VERY GOOD PLUS. Shows little to no wear ring wear or discoloration with no real spindle marks to speak of. KT Tax code visable. No names written on centre!

 

Sleeve-  VERY GOOD PLUS. Shows some slight wear, but the corners are in great condition and the wide spine is intact with all writing clearly visible. No splits or names written on the cover!!
