Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. Really gotten rare, Original 1971 first pressing -- seldom seen fully laminated gatefold on the legendary BYG label ... Filed under GonG and while with GonG members, is noted as Daevid Allen's first solo works ...
Out of all of Daevid Allen's solo albums, this is the most psychedelic one, and it should be if you at the time it was recorded (Camambert Electrique Gong), joyfull and hippie as you'd expect, full of great moves and catchy tunes, a playful ride with bent edges and freak-outs.
Daevid Allen is best known as the ringmaster of Gong's more psychedelic periods and this LP dates to a period before Gong had really firmed up as a band. As such, the sound is very much in transition between Allen's involvement with the psychedelic ballroom sounds of the early Soft Machine and the prog freakout of Radio Gnome-era Gong. In fact, Robert Wyatt of the Soft Machine makes a few appearances here as does Canterbury scene standby, Pip Pyle and Allen's special ladyfriend and Gong fixture, Gillie Smyth.
Side one of the album seems to reflect some of the more 60's forms of psychedelia, while the second side anticipates what Gong would be doing in a few years. "Time of Your Life" is an awesome, full-tilt acid rocker, propelled by what is some of the best drumming you'll hear out of Robert Wyatt who also sings lead on "Memories". "All I Want Is Out Of Here" may make one think of the Muppets' Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem after Animal made them all take the brown acid, while it is not documented that Kevin Ayers is taking on the vocal for "White Neck Blooze," but if that's not him, then Daevid Allen must have a Kevin Ayers aping superpower or something. It would have fit seamlessly on Ayers' similarly titled album, Bananamour. The end of this song also engages in some entertaining, stoned-out absurdity. "Stoned Innocent Frankenstein" and "I Am A Bowl" would not have been out of place as highlights on a GonG album - and the songs are pretty far-out there. For the total freakout mirror of Gong, we get the twelve minute long "& His Adventure in the Land of Flip," complete with Gillie Smyth's cosmic bellowing and Allen acid vocal effects. Might reflect the deranged levels of Frank Zappa's "The Return of the Son of Monster Magnet" from the 'Freak-Out' album.

CONDITION: The Cover: the laminated gatefold is "EX" (excellent) having a little bit of rub wear to the lamination, but only sightly when reflected by light, otherwise looks great ... has no split seams, no bends, no writing ...
The Vinyl: glossy and clear over both sides, visually in "EX" (excellent) zones, but, heads up to those not tuned in to the BYG label often having lo-fi production pressings ... not talking audiophile or even Columbia masterworks qualities here, but, it is the first pressing of '71 and all that comes with it ... does play enjoyable, just listened to it with correct expectations. Both BYG labels are clean and cotains the original plastic inner sleeve as issued by the label.
