This must be the ultimate Blind Faith rarity on vinyl! A white label promo copy of the LP in a 1st proof sleeve, this is the very earliest pressing available, no question, as it predates release by at least a week and it has A1/B1 stampers on the run-out!!
But what makes this record really special is the letter which comes with it, a stunning artefact of provenance for the LP which shows that this is the real thing! It's a letter dated 14th August 1969 from the Head of Publicity at RSO to a respected music journalist apologising for the fact that the copy of the LP sent to him is a white label in a proof sleeve and stating that the LP 'should be entering the shops in the early part of next week, although the official release date is August 22'!!! An astounding piece of vinyl history!!!
Labels are plain white with Side 1 and Side 2 handwritten in blue ink. Matrices are 538059 A/1 420 1 1 and 538059 B/1 420 1 1 1
1st proof gatefold sleeve has stickers on the front and back to state this, and red ink stamps on the inner gatefold; also the remains of a sticker top left on the front. Still grades EX with a few small edge creases, but these are minor flaws on such a rare article.
The vinyl has one extremely light mark at the beginning of side 2 not affecting play at all. There are some storage marks where the plastic inner has made a swirly pattern on side 1 but, again, this does not affect superb audio quality. This has to grade NM; put simply, it has hardly been out of the inner sleeve. A superb record and an opportunity to own a piece of recorded music history!!!!
