Description

  • The BEE GEES ODESSA  (2-record set)  came out on Atco Records in 1969.  This album came out several years before Saturday Night Fever.
  • Side 4 has First of May which was put out as a single with Lamplight on the B-side.  Melody Fair was also on the B-side for part of the time it was on the singles charts. The three songs came from ODESSA.  Besides the title song, Odessa, Marley Purt Drive  received notable comments.
  • This was the Bee Gees only double album.  It is covered in red velvet with BEE GEES and ODESSA in gold lettering.
  • A dispute on which song would be Side A for the single led to a temporary breaking up of the group when Robin's song was made the Side B song and he walked out.
  • This album has gained acclaim in the new century after not being received that well when it came out.
  • It is included in 1001 Albums Youi Must Hear Before You Die.
